official MD, DC & VA primaries thread
OMG I VOTED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE
i went with my dad. he voted for obama while i went for ron paul. our precinct was a church down the street and the old white church women assisting us were incredibly shocked that we were father/daugher and weren't voting for the same person. it was hilarious though..my dad joked like, can you believe my daughter is on the other side? and everybody laughed. and then the republican woman pulled me closer and was like, your dad raised you to make your own choices? that's so good!! and i was like, haha yeah..
i thought it was really funny because i think they probably didnt expect a hijabi to think for herself...or actually even muslims to walk into there to vote at all...i guess cuz i live in a white-ish suburb.
i didnt get a 'i voted for ron paul' sticker tho. pretty sad. everyone i saw walking around today had stickers to represent.
*sigh*

Well, at least you got to vote.
I'm a registered Independent, and in Maryland, you have to belong to the party to vote in its primaries.

makes me glad i live in chicago. you can travel the whole world without ever leaving the city.
i live in the suburbs too, but its next to the city limits of the west side of chicago, which is heavily black. my town alone is 30% black, and i live around at least five different desi families, and three more desi families that lives in the condos behind my back alley.

i voted for obama and i voted for my concience, and ill tell you why.
i only voted for him for two reasons, #1 was to help him get more delegates. in fact in the democratic primary here in IL, there are 8 delegates you can vote for to send. you could literally split your ticket between hillary and obama if you wanted to. i voted all 8 delegates for obama.
obama can beat john mccain in the november elections, and a democrat in the white house is waay better than any repug.
i like ron paul and all, but i think he can do more better work in the congress. its great that there is a congressman like him there. not only that, at least i got to vote for my own congressman danny davis of the west side. he is a huge supporter of Muslim's and palestine and in chicago, the only real election is the democratic party. winning the primary garuntees you a win in november. you can thank democratic party ward bosses for that. (oh ya and dead people voting too LOL).

note: muslimz would not have voted if it weren't for me.
ps- we need obama. and voting for your conscience, while it might soothe it, does nothing for this country.

and if you're voting to heal the country... it shouldn't be against your conscience at all.

oh ya. if there's one thing i would have liked to have majored in, it would have been that. but i hear that it doesnt pay very well. again i dunno its just what i heard. if not that, then i would have studied law. i could have made a great lawyer. i tried my hand at majoring in journalism at one point, but that didnt go so good, so i majored in I.T. instead.
so how do you like my updates and analysis of this current election?

it amuses me how some of you have essentially become shills for the democratic party.
the differences between someone blindly voting for a candidate from party X and someone voting with their conscience should be clear.
there's nothing especially good about obama. he's a run-of-the-mill democrat.
he voted against banning partial birth abortions.
he is strongly in favor of gay marriage & presenting homosexuality as a norm to children ("they already know about it").
he spoke out on israel's right to attack lebanon when israel was carpetbombing lebanon.
he believes that our defense dept should cooperate with israel's defense dept in weapons development.
he wants to ban ALL semi-automatic weapons (!?) and voted against prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers.
he makes bellicose statements about invading pakistan.
economically, he perfectly fits the mold of the traditional tax-and-spend democrat. which i suppose is better than the neocon don't-tax-and-still-spend republican.
prior to obama becoming the latest flavor of the month, you were supporting edwards. then hillary. i'm pretty sure some of you would support albert speer if he got the democratic nomination.

Whether it was intended as such or not, that was a non-sequitur. I wouldn't vote for Bob Dole in a billion years.
