Default Official Election 2008 thread

Well, this is the official thread concerning the 2008 elections.

Personally, I'd rather not vote, but if you don't vote then you can't complain about the results.

So, as election time gets closer and closer, all topics concerning the elections will be herded to this thread.

Of course you can, cause it's not like your vote counts to begin with. With that said, I'm not going to waste my time with voting.

Hmmn i cant wait to vote. For those of you who dont want to vote why not do the good old "tactical voting" where you just vote against the party you dont want to be in pwer rather then for the party or in this case the candidiate.

I find it hard to think of not voting for all those women who died for us in either the suffregists or the suffregests (not so much the suffregests as they were asking for trouble) but yeh May Allah swt bring somesome to power who will not have a fetish of killimg moslems Ameen

Walaikum as salaam

Here in the States, the citizens popular votes don't count, it's the electoral votes that do. So if you want your votes to count, vote for the state rep who well represent you and your opinions in the presidential election.

By my understanding the Usa uses the Simple plurality voting system which is where the winner takes all therefore there will be a vast majority of "wasted votes" -the votes that do not make a difference once one of the canditates has the higher number. So for example, Huckabee has 20 votes and Obama has 80 but the 59 votes after the 21 that will be counted are wasted. Therefore if you vote against the candidate you do not want then your votes may not be wasted!

Ameen.

Let's think of the candidates:

Tancreddo (I think that's how it's spelled): advocated nuking Mecca and Medina
Giuliani: advisor advocated ethnic cleansing of Muslims and his ads are anti-Islamic
McCain: "bomb, bomb, Iran"
Virgil Goode (is he running?): has a voice which can kill small children

*This just in about Ron Paul:
Quote:
Denying Muslim Visas
In a controversial ad that's sending his libertarian fans into orbit, Paul proposes tough new immigration policies, including denying visas to Muslim students from terrorist states.

Paul, a congressman from south Texas, also proposes ending "birthright citizenship," which allows the children of Middle Eastern and other illegal immigrants to stay in America. Such anchor babies now include the offspring of jailed or deported terrorists.

Sh**. Ron Paul was the only one who I would actually vote for. I guess Obama is our only choice now.

Hillary Clinton and Bareback Obama are pretty much equal in my eyes. I'd vote for either one.

hmm.

after watching the new hampshire debates, I'm not sure if I want to vote for obama. I'm wary of politicians making flowery idealistic speeches.

Yeah. I think Ron Paul is a better candidate. He's about the only one who's really anti-war, and even more importantly, he's anti-interventionist. He's a constitutionist libertarian individualist, who doesn't take money from AIPAC, is against the Federal Reserve and the CIA, as well all those unconstitutional acts that got passed recently. Obama and Clinton don't even compare, and it's just going to be the same story with them. They're both as committed to Israel and more wars as Bush is, and probably more of those anti-freedom-and-liberty acts as well.

and your living idealistic too. look we have to look at people who can actually win and who can beat the repugs. have you been listening to what they have been saying? especially this romney character. thier anti-islam bashing is downright frightening. not to mention how these repugs ruin the economy left and right, destroy the middle class. we have to make sure that they repugs dont win the election. its basically the lesser of two evils. at least with a democrat in the white house, middle class tax cuts to spur the economy, no more wars, an end to the iraq war, an end to the patriot act and maybe just maybe we might get a little bit more balance in foreign policy as well. but at least Muslim's in america can start to feel safe again, once we can do that, then we can lobby more on foreign affairs.
