So people who don't vote 'cause they don't think it'll change the world believe that not voting is always the right to do regardless of the circumstances?
Maybe she feels America is at a critical juncture and so, it's very important to vote in this election.
EDIT: Also, I have to say... you may have noticed the word lazy in her original post, but your reponse to her wasn't the complex argument you're making now. Which is okay; sometimes we just quickly want to respond to something we feel strongly about and don't always take the time to make a refined, polished post, though we may have gathered all the necessary thoughts in our heads (I know I do this a lot). But even in your later posts, you were condescending. Note that I'm not disagreeing with your points here but rather, your approach. If you're interested in civil discussion, you can be like "Hey Jellymill, I think perhaps you've bought into all these celebrity-endorsed youth vote campaigns and I don't think you're considering every angle here. We shouldn't vote just for the sake of voting and people who don't vote have reasons for doing so" yada yada yada blah blah blah. I think she would've responded better to that. Everybody can be educated/critically engaged with and you can disagree with somebody without being disagreeable.
Also, blaming her for your rude response is a form of abuse.

EDIT2: Sorry for the diatribe there. That was a reminder to myself too.

Re: Official Election 2008 thread
Is it just me or was palin pronouncing the word "nuclear" the same stupid way that Bush pronounces it? That's one of the first things that stood out like a sore thumb.

Even more surprisingly, more than a few of the Pakistanis we spoke with were convinced that Obama is Muslim because his middle name is "Hussein," and therefore believe he may be more sympathetic to Pakistan if he were president.

I took each candidate's words from the debate transcript, and plugged them into Wordle.
Here's what I got. Click the images to enlarge.( Daily Kos: State of the Nation)
Joe Biden:
Sarah Palin:
So, is "also" some sort of talking point superglue or something?

third party debate
Amy Goodman (in my humble estimation, America's most important living journalist) hosted her own V.P. debate this morning with independant running mate of Ralph Nader, Matt Gonzolez and Green Party running mate of Cynthia Mckinney, Rosa Clemente.
Everyone should thank Amy Goodman and Democracy Now! for showing us what a truly open and democratic debate would look like. If you dont read this transcript you are all a bunch of wimpy wimpy simpering cowards.
. . . i love you all. As salaamu 'alaykum.
