Check this out (I'm sure a bunch of you have seen this already):
yeswecansong.com
Whether or not you're an Obama supporter, it's pretty cool how the artists just decided to make it (Obama's campaign had nothing to do with it) and how it's spread all over the internet. It's like a case study of viral marketing.

Re: Official Election 2008 thread
more people are voting in the democratic primary than the repug primary. even in states which hold open primaries.
and if you are a u.s. citizen living overseas, you can still vote in the democratic primary till feb. 12. even though only 11 delegates are at stake for americans abroad, every delegate counts in this unusual election.
so states up next:
Saturday, Feb. 9th, 2008
Kansas caucuses (Republican Only)
Louisiana primaries
Nebraska caucuses (Democrat Only)
Washington caucuses
Main Democratic Caucaus Sunday, Feb. 10th
Tuesday, Feb. 12th primaries:
Washington D.C.
MARYLAND
VIRGINIA
Feb.19th
Hawaii caucuses (Democrat Only)
Washington primaries
Wisconsin primaries
March 4th
Ohio primaries
Rhode Island primaries
Texas primaries
Vermont primaries
Saturday, March 8th
Wyoming Democratic Party caucuses

So whoever gets nominated we're going to see a reversal of 2004 so that repubs will now be voting for someone they don't particularly like and sometimes even despise, purely to keep the Dem, who they hate more, out of the White House. The core group of supporters for either of Clinton and Obama will pull them through in the Presidential race, and the Repubs will be left with that look of disillusionment in American democracy that the Kerry voters wore in 2004. It's not the fact you're candidate lost but the fact that a pratt has won and you didn't get to choose from any good candidates in the first place.
The Dems will have their confidence restored while the repubs will consider migrating. It all reminds me of Catch-22.
They're all the same anyway and in the revised words of Mr Ford; "You can have any colour you like......as long as it's black or dark black"

first of all you dont understand the american political system. if anything john kerry came in very close in 04'. in fact, the election was decided by only a lil over 100,000 votes out of millions casted nationwide.
the only reason, that john kerry lost the election, is because those daam hillbillys down in southern ohio, hunkered down in the appelechian mountains, refused to vote for a noth-easterner, and went with a fellow southerner, bush, instead.
in fact, in 2000, al gore barely campaigned in ohio, and got 28% of the vote down in southern ohio. while john kerry massively campaigned in southern ohio, and only managed to get 28% of the vote. what that shows is a regional bias there.
and why is that important? because of the winner take all system we have for each state. even if you win by just 500 votes, as in florida in 2000, you win all of thier states electoral college votes.
another reason why john kerry lost, is simply due to the fact that independent voters decide elections. that's somehing you have removed out of your equation out of who has more supporters who are more crazy about thier candidate. those people dont decide elections, its the independents who do, especially in close race elections, like the kinds we have been seeing since 2000.
plus kerry was a senator, a long time serving senator at that. here's a fact: no senator has won a presidential election since 1960. plus the last three democratic party presidents were all southerners, LBJ, Jimmy Carter, and Bill Clinton.
the road to the white house for a democrat, is through the south. He must pick off, meaning win, at least two or three southern states, away from the repugs. and vice versa for a repug, he must pick two or three states in the north away from the democrats. which is what bush did, when he consolidated the southern states.
the new strategy for the democrats is to capture the votes of the growing latin communities of the south-west, away from repugs, and win the white house that way. kerry tried to do that in 04' but failed, but that was four years. things change, more voters registered, more immigrants becoming citizens, etc.
i really just dont get how someone living in london, could possibly understand the american political system or how it works, given how vastly different it is from the british parliamentary sytem.

No, us black folks don't partake in them politics much. There's a few Muslim MPs (Members of Parliament), but the most they've got is a junior minister role.
