Americans..Do Government BIlls like this bother you?
H. Res. 847: Recognizing the importance of Christmas and the Christian faith (GovTrack.us)
It would bother me If i were a citizen. I mean why would a group that clearly represents well over 70% of the USA need something like this?

Its a Resolution, It doesn't hold any legal weight, they didn't make a law. In all actuality, it doesn't mean anything. They could pass a resolution saying puppies are cute if they wanted. Blowing this out of proportion would be like blowing Keith Ellison's swearing on the Quran out of proportion.

It annoys me that people really think Christmas has anything to do with Christianity...that's how stupid people here have become. No pity. Whatever. I like getting X-mas off from work only. People are really dumb nuts around this time of year though.

LOL -
Resolved, That the House of Representatives--- (1) recognizes the Christian faith as one of the great religions of the world;
(2) expresses continued support for Christians in the United States and worldwide;
(3) acknowledges the international religious and historical importance of Christmas and the Christian faith;
(4) acknowledges and supports the role played by Christians and Christianity in the founding of the United States and in the formation of the western civilization;
(5) rejects bigotry and persecution directed against Christians, both in the United States and worldwide; and
(6) expresses its deepest respect to American Christians and Christians throughout the world.

Because they're paranoid. They perceive an assault on Christmas despite the fact the President is Christian, most of Congress is Christian, and I'm pretty sure the entire Supreme Court is Christian. And when pressed, the vast majority of the population will say they're Christian if you ask them what religion they follow.

Another example of secularism (separation of church and state) headbutting with Christianity.

Supreme Court refuses Houston courthouse bible lawsuit
Updated: November 26, 2007
HOUSTON (AP) - The U.S. Supreme Court today declined to review rulings that said a monument outside a Houston courthouse featuring the Bible should be removed.
Harris County also must pay the legal fees for the woman who sued. County Attorney Mike Stafford had asked the high court to vacate a 2004 ruling by U.S. District Judge Sim Lake.
The judge sided with Kay Staley, who sued in 2003 claiming a monument featuring the King James version of the Bible was offensive.
The county also had asked the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to declare the case moot, because the monument has now been moved.
The monument, recently removed during courthouse renovations, had been in place since 1956 to honor a Houston businessman for helping the homeless.
Staley attorney Randall Kallinen says the ruling by the federal judge was very accurate. Stafford's office had no immediate comment.

Re: Americans..Do Government BIlls like this bother you?
I think I'm part of who these folks are annoyed with... not long ago (I don't know how it came up) my friend said something about "...Christians like us", and I said "I'm not a Christian"
He said "what are you, Muslim? an atheist?" - and I said no... and he said "then you're a Christian because that's what you grew up as" He just wouldn't drop it, it was a big deal to him.
But of course I'm not going to stop celebrating Christmas over that...

Just because it wasn't the actual date of birth of Jesus doesn't mean that it has nothing to do with Christianity. I don't think it's right to call people 'stupid' over how they celebrate their religion.

When a bunch of people purposely stay ignorant, "When they say Jesus was born on this day when he was not", When they say this is the day of the SON, when its really the day of the SUN, what else do you call it?
I'm pretty sure thats stupidity.
