i have another theory. what would happen if everything was peaceful and calm in iraq? the u.s. troops would have to withdraw because 'mission accomplished'. so, here is what bush and co. is thinking. let's create alot of problems in iraq, and when the democrats say time to withdraw, we will say 'we cant cut and run now'. sound familar? and then there is your beloved mossad and the isrealis. they already have shown that they want the united states to invade iran. after all, just who do you think is behind the invasion plans of iran? so how do you do it? you use the american troops in iraq to do it. why isrealis fight iran, when they can get thier american slaves to do it for them. make sense to you? so just in whose interest is it to keep iraq instable? who for years have been crying and whining about iraq? why it was the isrealis. who bombed iraq in 1981? it was the isrealis. the last thing they want is an arab country, that is strong enough and capable enough to stand up to them and be a real threat to them for all the crazyness that they have caused over the years. i mean you dont seem to understand how the media works. so here is a crash course. the media doesnt do any research at all. the media, like the NYT, simply runs off to the state dept, gets told what to write, and the print it up as if it were fact. and then thier reporters overseas do nothing but hang around the u.s. embassy and simply print up governmetn propoganda as if it were fact. and the american media isnt guilty of this, virtually every media in every country almost always toes the government line. i have no idea why everyone thinks the american media is soooooooo independent, when in reality they hardly not. i think the cheerleading they did in the run upto the iraq war, was proof enough of that. not to mention who is making all this money off of the high oil prices? why its the bush and co, made up of all oil execs, condeelza rice hello. haliburton exec, **** cheney etc. i mean the price of one fricken barrel of oil, is almost at $100! these people are getting rich off of the iraq war. because here is another lesson for you, if you ever decide to get into stock trading. if you can create chaos in the middle east, such as in a oil rich country like iraq, that will lead to investor fears on wall street over oil supplies, and that will jack the price of oil up. so if you bought it at $20 a barrel just a few years ago, you made a pretty ton of cash right there. but if everything was peaceful in the middle east, you make nothing! zero! zip! nada! aah but now we have another problem? there's not enough troops in iraq, let alone to invade iran. so how does bush and co. get more people to sign up for the army? why you destroy the economy! cuz once you destroy the economy, all the poor and working class kids cant find jobs. better yet, once those college kids get out of school and cant find jobs, how are they supposed to pay for thier student loans? hey here comes the army, they will give you a G.I. Grant, just sign here to serve in Iraq. My second-cousin has a $100K student loan to pay off for his medical studies. he is serving in Iraq right now. just were you are going to head too my man, in a few years from now. Now do you see how the world works? I have no idea why you put soo much faith in crooked politicians and corrupt government officials?

Re: Al-Qaeda routed from Baghdad?
those troops are there by long term treaties and the local people and governments would probably get on their knees and beg for America to keep them there forever. At this point its just about money
but remember, one could have just as easily said 'look at vietnam'
nobody knows what the long term status of US troops will be in Iraq. But the majority, by far, will be gone. And they wont be going into combat. Even the raving socialist conspiracy nuts dont think American troops will be going into combat or patrolling Iraqi streets 20 years from now

Re: Al-Qaeda routed from Baghdad?
why would the US need such a large embassy?
Quote:
The Mega-Bunker of Baghdad
The new American Embassy in Baghdad will be the largest, least welcoming, and most lavish embassy in the world: a $600 million massively fortified compound with 619 blast-resistant apartments and a food court fit for a shopping mall.
...with its own power generators, water wells, drinking-water treatment plant, sewage plant, fire station, irrigation system, Internet uplink, secure intranet, telephone center (Virginia area code), cell-phone network (New York area code), mail service, fuel depot, food and supply warehouses, vehicle-repair garage, and workshops

and that's a very good point, that is the largest u.s. embassy in the world btw. it sounds more like a structure built for an imperial viceroy if anything else.but try explaining this to mr. 'mossad conspiracy', according to him were all loonies, and he will believe anything put out by the government and its propoganda in the media.
maybe we should take out an ad in the NYT selling a bridge, he will probably buy it.

Re: Al-Qaeda routed from Baghdad?
time will tell..
Controlling Iraq's Oil
Quote:
Iraq poised to hand control of oil fields to foreign firms | Business | The Observer
Baghdad is under pressure from Britain and the US to pass an oil law which would hand long-term control of Iraq's energy assets to foreign multinationals, according to campaigners.
Iraqi trades unions have called for the country's oil reserves - the second-largest in the world - to be kept in public hands. But a leaked draft of the oil law, seen by The Observer, would see the government sign away the right to exploit its untapped fields in so-called exploration contracts, which could then be extended for more than 30 years
|
Quote:
The Iraq oil law, also referred to as the Iraq hydrocarbon law, is a proposed piece of legislation submitted to the Iraqi Council of Representatives in May 2007.
The Bush administration hired the consulting firm BearingPoint to help write the law in 2004. The bill was approved by the Iraqi cabinet in February 2007. The Bush administration considers the passage of the law a benchmark for the government of Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki.
The Iraq National Oil Company would have exclusive operational control of just 17 of Iraq’s 80 known oil fields. Normally countries do not have the type of exclusivity that would leave two-thirds of known and unknown fields open to foreign control.

almost every u.s. embassy has a fortress around it. but why of all places in the world, is the largest u.s. embassy in Iraq? Why not say, the UN? Why not say China, america's largest trading partner? Or even Japan? Why Iraq of all places? Unless you are planning to act like an imperial viceroy. You want to know who the real ruler of Iraq is right now? Its George W. Bush.

An 'Imperial vice-roy'. Maybe instead it's because they invaded the country and they have a big mess to clean up... let's hope.
