No, no, no. Don't worry. I got it.
Still, the proud part doesn't sound very right.

Re: 4,000 Indians jailed in Dubai for demanding better pay
what do they have to do with anything?
The best thing about the emirates is that i can see them building a space elevator or sending somebody to mars or building an underwater colony just because they can (when that point arrives)

It was a joke, MC. You said you'd build a 150-floor tower to show your love for the Emirates ... I said the awqaaf will happily accept your generous offer, suggesting that you won't be getting rent out of it because it's going to be waqf Islami ... Joke ya3ni.
Not a good one, obviously.

Re: 4,000 Indians jailed in Dubai for demanding better pay
jokes based on emirati real estate law tend to be some of the funniest but this one was just very funny rather than being extremely funny

Re: 4,000 Indians jailed in Dubai for demanding better pay
im confused about one thing. if dubai has no oil, how did it become so succesful, while a country in the region like yemen, which has no oil either, continues to dwell in dire poverty?

It's a confederacy. The capital city is rich and spends generously on development projects in other Emirates. Dubai did have oil in the past, but not much. Dubai also depends on its port for revenues. Lastly .. It takes a man with a vision, who doesn't pocket all his country's money to make a change like that.

Re: 4,000 Indians jailed in Dubai for demanding better pay
Managers who ill-treat workers will be prosecuted - Dahi
Dubai: Managers of construction companies which treat their workers inhumanely will be taken to court, announced Dubai Police Chief yesterday.
"Strict measures will be taken against anyone who violates the rules, orders and instructions issued by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, especially the ones concerning workers' rights," said Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Dubai Police Chief in a statement.
The Dubai Police has started interrogating one of these managers, who admitted his guilt to the Director of the Human Rights Department, according to Dahi.
Members of Dubai Police will work as labour inspection officers to fill the gap in cracking down on these companies that do not provide a decent accommodation for workers.
Dahi said police officers will have maps showing the location of company accommodations, and will carry out sudden inspection campaigns to make sure that these places are in line with quality requirements.
He added that Dubai Government has given these companies land and opportunities, but some managers do not appreciate the country's support. (I totally agree with this statement. They don't appreciate the supportive environment, and they contribute to giving Dubai a bad name. Not that Dubai hasn't earned some of it on its own, but the abuse of workers tops the list. And that I refuse to believe is entirely or mostly Dubai's fault.)

well thats good to hear. and let me just say, the united states is not all that much different in its treatment of foreign workers, particularly those here illegally. # 1 our government doesnt provide them with housing or accomodation, and certainly not to the illegals. on top of that, our borders are a joke to begin with, where floods of illegals coming in from all over south america is permitted so greedy companies can have cheap labor to work in jobs that no one else wants to do. such as fast food workers, lawn care workers, restaurant workers etc. unfortunantly the downsize to this is crime. when foreign workers from latin america are busy working 14 hours a day, there's no one at home to watch the kids. this leads to thier youth hanging out on the streets, joining street gangs and making the lives of thier own people in thier own community miserable. and as for accomodations, does the american farmer in say ooh iowa or wisonsin "america's dairy state" provide accomodation to all those migrant farm workers from south america? NO they dont, and thats a fact.
but the interesting thing with the GCC gulf countries is that they issue work permits to gues workers, something the u.s. has been doing for a while now. In the gulf when those workers are told to go home, they go without huffing and puffing. But here, these foreign workers cry, whine, complain, demanding green cards etc. Saudi Arabia recently allowed citizenship to foreign workers who have lived there for 12 years continously. I mean who are these foreign workers, especially the ones coming out of india, demanding green cards when they are only here on temporary work permits? the key word being temporary? i had an argument with one of these h1b idoits, who posted a video of himself on youtube demanding just that. im sorry, but when your visa expires and your told to go home, you go home thats it. Your just a temporary guest worker, and nothing more. Take your money and go help develop your own country, lord knows they need it alot more.

Re: 4,000 Indians jailed in Dubai for demanding better pay
No matter that you go to Dubai or any other country but motherland is the best with no comparison. I can only suggest that never leave your homeland for anything or you'll be treated as slave. The choice is yours...
