you seem to forget one thing. the price of just everything is way more cheaper in India than it is over here. you live in NYC, which is way more expensive to live in than Chicago. Now imagine India? You can catch a cab ride for two bucks! you can literally hire a car and driver for an entire day for only $14. you can rent a pretty nice apartment for only $400 a month. And those outsourcing jobs pay pretty decent compared to other jobs in India. In fact its soo goood, thats its not even worth going to the gulf anymore, because they can earn the same amount of money right there in India. The only reason those people die to leave, is because they want the 'status' of foreign worker, earning foreign currency and nothing more. which is why i have zero sympathy for anyone who wants to come to the u.s. anymore. there is no need to. they stole our I.T. jobs through outsourcing, so why should we continue to bring them in? there no excuse for it anymore. i think its a very fair trade off for outsourcing.

in fact believe it or not, i was just reading an indian newspaper last week, saying how foreigners, are going to India now to work there! already Pakistanis were heading off to India to work as programmers, now westerners, believe it or not, are doing it too.

You know, it would be nice if Muslim businessmen (and women) set up their companies in India rather than bring skilled workers to work in foreign countries. Say if a company starts in Hyderabad and pays the workers the same amount of money they'd be paid if they were working in Dubai. They'd have more money to save that way, and they'll be spending less. its not just about income its about standard of living which is much higher in America than in India (along with income). The reason those pakistanis you mentioned are heading to india is the same reason that indians go to america or UK or dubai

yeah but there are all kinds of reasons for companies to open up in dubai and employ people in the Gulf rather than India

i dunno what that is.

But i'm pretty sure Dubai is a more business-friendly place, especially for natives. For one thing, I dont think native-owned firms have to pay any taxes!

Even if national companies had to pay taxes abroad; it's good to expand and grow into a transnational corporation.

but ultimately its better for the home site to be a destination for investment rather than just a source. the oil arabs were big investors for several decades but it wasnt till your late emperor made the Emirates an attractive place for investors and businesses that dubai, the UAE, and the rest of the gulf really started to get awesome

well the richest man in india, who runs one of the largest outsourcing firms, is a muslim, azim premji. believe me he doesnt care about being muslim, especially if you watch his tv interviews. and there are plenty of companies in hyderabad running plenty of outsourcing work there. the city has transformed overnight. from what im heaing now Muslims in the heavily muslim-dominated old city, are now making a ton of cash, that even clothing shops are setting up business in the heart of the old city, where none stood before. if two or three young people from one household are working in call centers, the family income has now risen ten fold. people are buying up cars now in the heart of the poverty-stricken old city. imagine that? from what im hearing now its better to just stay home and work, rather than goto the gulf and work, because they are already making the same amount of money at home, that they would earn if they went abroad to the gulf.

It is already a destination for investment, as you call it. We have new national companies coming up, and I think it would be very nice if they could compete with similar business abroad and internationalise our local brand-names. Emirates is good at that. I've seen t-shirts with "Fly Emirates" on them in sports shop in Bristol. Apart from the fact that it made me want to go home right away, I was also very proud.

yeah its cool to see emirates jerseys worn by soccer players from most of the world's teams. it would be good to see emirati firms expanding. even though i hate you people it makes me kind of proud too

being able to send money home, access to electricity round the clock, clean water, clean food, living in a society where infectious disease isnt killing everybody, a chance to have their kids be born US citizens, educational opportunities if they want them, other jobs on the horizon, etc

otherwise they wouldnt come, its as simple as that.

LOL i think part of the resenment has to do that alto of people feel put down because they hail from poorer countries. the other thing is, alot of it from what i have seen, simply has to do with jealousy.
