(WASHINGTON, D.C., 10/26/2007) - A prominent national Islamic civil rights and advocacy group today expressed concern about the decision of a student group that is involved in the so-called "Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week" to host a Michigan lecture by a representative of a British racist political party.

The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) says the group, Young Americans for Freedom (YAF), is hosting a lecture tonight at Michigan State University by British National Party (BNP) Chairman Nick Griffin.

Griffin has been prosecuted in Britain for inciting racial hatred and has been quoted denying the Holocaust. He said: "It's well known that the chimneys from the gas chambers at Auschwitz are fake, built after the war ended."

According to the BNP Constitution: "The British National Party. . .is wholly opposed to any form of racial integration between British and non-European peoples. It is therefore committed to stemming and reversing the tide of non-white immigration and to restoring, by legal changes, negotiation and consent, the overwhelmingly white makeup of the British population that existed in Britain prior to 1948."

Actually it works in our favour. If the guest speakers include leaders of extremist right-wing groups, it just goes to show what kind of message they're trying to put out. Hopefully people who were undecided about the rightfulness of this campaign will see it for what it is - hate-mongering.

Ignoring the aims, what percentage of the reported, so called facts, would you (anyone) accept as true?

See i didn't see it like that but its still irks me as Nick Griffin has to be the singlemost grotesque person I have ever seen speak.

In asking the above I have in mind the attitude of some on this board who consider that the whole thing should be ignored as not worthy of comment, however even if it is accepted that the Guide's aim is one of hatred, is it advisable to fail to challenge the claims, bearing in mind that much of what is reported is available from other, perhaps more respectable sources, which also fail to make reference to specific conditions which may apply.

I haven't read the guide you speak of so I can't really comment on its contents.

I don't think the event should be ignored but I do think if the Horowitz camp intend to host events like this then its only fair that the opposite views be put forward too. The integrity of the events have been marred by the calibre of the people chosen to speak.
