Only representatives of companies to be allowed access to MoL office now

Abu Dhabi, October 16: Representatives of private companies, and not employees, will now be allowed to enter the Ministry of Labour (MoL) offices to finalise transactions. An order to this effect has been issued by the Minister of Labour, Dr Ali bin Abdullah Al Kaabi.
“The directive was issued yesterday for the convenience of employees and to curb unnecessary crowds at the ministry. From now on, employees will not be forced by companies to finalise their dealings at the ministry on their own,” Al Kaabi said.
“Though we had repeatedly told the companies not to send workers personally at the ministry, some of the companies had still been sending workers to finalise the dealing,” he noted. “That’s why we have now confined this job to the company representatives only,” he added.
Under the law, a company with more than 100 employees must employ a UAE national representative and companies with less than 100 workers are allowed to recruit a non-national representative.
“The new rule will ensure convenience to the employees and make the work of the ministry staff easier,” the minister said.
The order, however, is not applicable to the Labour Disputes Reconciliation Department, where the workers will not be denied access. The employees should submit their complaints directly, as the ministry has designated and opened an office in Musafah for receiving and looking into the labour complaints.
