You're such a moron. The public option does not operate on tax payer money, so even if an illegal immigrant made use of the public option, he wouldn't be "mooching" since he would have to pay deductibles and co-pays just like everyone else.

Man, people are so freakin moronic. Look, the public option would run just like a private insurance company: it would run off of deductibles and co-pays.

Fi Aman Allah
How would the illegal get coverage when they don't even have valid SSN?

It's obvious that Kona doesn't have any idea about the difference between the public option and single payer proposals.

But even if they are allowed to use the public option, it wouldn't be mooching, since they'd be paying for it like everyone else.

I don't understand the Republican hatred of illegal immigrants. Are not illegal immigrants human beings like everyone else? Don't they have children? Don't they bleed if you cut them? Did not God give them eyes, ears, and hearts?

Even the language that these Republican morons use is so offensive. They literally use de-humanizing language like "leeches" for human beings.

I say: let the illegal immigrants pay for the public option. Why not? The sanctity of life takes precedence over all else!

I hate Republicans.

It's only different in a couple ways: (1) They don't need to generate a 30% profit to fill the coffers of the top employees, so this will keep costs down. It just has to be self-sustaining, not profitable. (2) They won't discriminate based on pre-existing conditions, since their goal will not be profit but the benefit of the people.

How so? Please show the proof of it. Because I have consistently read and heard that it will not cost a cent. In fact that is what the white house's own site says.

About Illegal Aliens, by and large those people do jobs no legal American wants to do. They are just one step up from being slaves since no matter how badly treated they are, they don't go to the police out of fear of being deported. Honestly I don't think it's as much the immigration status as racism. See, all Spanish speaking people are Mexicans in their eyes, and they are offended by their presence in the U.S. for some reason. I don't know many 7-11's owners who get beaten up under suspicion of being illegal Punjabi's. You don't see them picketing China town searching for illegal Chinese immigrants, or threatening Ethiopian restaurants to make sure people working there are legal. No indeed, it's just a hatred of Spanish speaking people covered under an immigration debate.

Yeah, it sucks that the U.S. makes it very difficult for people to come here legally, but if you manage to cross the border and live here 10 years or so you'll probably get blanket amnesty. Yes it sucks, but it's the system that sucks. It's not the immigrants fault. They just want to earn some money and have a better life.

The people that would mostly be covered would be those at high-risk (pre-existing conditions) and those who are poor. Those with high-risks will likely have huge costs which would increase the amount that people would have to pay in. Those that are poor would be hard pressed to pay the co-pays and deductibles. Thus, federal money would likely be needed to subsidize.

They cannot earn a living legally in the USA without either permanent resident status, a work permit, or an employee sponsored visa. It is difficult to obtain those things especially if you reside outside of the USA.

when i heard Obama debate this issue with McCain he said that healcare reform would be paid for by repealing Bush tax cuts to the rich (in other words through taxes). I think using the increased taxes on the rich to pay for health coverage expansion remains part of Obama's plan. In addition a component of the healthcare reform is a "health surcharge" tax that will also be added to the income tax of wealthy Americans, beyond the tax increase from the Bush tax cuts expiring.

I dont have definitive proof, i'm not going to go find transcripts of the debates but i googled the terms that i mentioned and alot of articles came up that mention both the tax expiration as well as the healthcare surcharge being used to finance obamas plan

Martin Feldstein - Obama's Health-Care Reform Plan Is Not the Answer - washingtonpost.com
Concurring Opinions » Is the House’s Proposed Health Surcharge Progressive Enough?

you can follow links in those articles or google the terms "health surcharge" or "bush tax cut obama healthcare" or some other variant until you find sources you like

Given that more than 10% of our nation was born outside the US, that we have more permanent residents than any other nation on the planet and that we naturalize more than a million persons a year, I'd say we're doing our part to accept immigrants.

also, as somebody mentioned above, its counter-intuitive to assume that the uninsured could insure themselves without getting alot of tax subsidization.. because insurance companies wouldve found a way to include them and extract profits from them if they could
