What Conservatives and Republicans think about us
Salaam Alikum.
I thought of something interesting awhile ago, and decided to go throught with it, despite the fact that it may be controversial to some.
On myspace, I created another account and posed as a sterotypical conservative. I put American Flags in my profile, and stuff like that. I then joined Republican forums and asked questions about Muslims to see what they thought about us. Awhile ago, I went to Republican forums asking that they be more tolerant of Islam and I got responses like "go back to your country", "you're going to concentration camps and you deserve it", etc. So, I created another account and posed as them to see what they really thought of us.
Here are the results (you may need a myspace account to view them, I'm not sure):
1) http://forum.myspace.com/index.cfm?f...5753F427815820
2) http://forum.myspace.com/index.cfm?f...47809627722660
3) http://forum.myspace.com/index.cfm?f...47809627722660
In the end, I got mixed results. For example, on one question, I asked if Muslims should be identified in America with tattoos and armbands, and some conservatives said "yes, you need to identify them for the sake of security", and others said "I thought we weren't living in 1930's Germany".
I kind of pulled a Borat, if that's how you want to think of it.

Please do not take these results seriously. You are neither neutral, nor a professional. These views represent the target audience you were trying to get with this, which were extremists, and not normal conservatives or normal republicans. If you wish to conduct true polls, the most accurate and most economical place to do so is this. I personally have used it for work ALOT. So give it a shot. You'd get much better results. Promise.
It would be like Islamica if you are trying to find out the opinion on America. A lot of extremist and misguided kids are on here, and hence your results would be flawed. Because its fairly obvious that I don't want to kill and blow up random people, but some here would approve of that.

I guess, but I was just interested to see what they thought.

Uhhh, no, Facebook would not be the most accurate place to get results from.
How ironic. Spreading inaccurate information while laying claim to a supposedly accurate source.

AAAh, the return of the naysayers.
Most of the older people on the internet are boomers, with no central place available.
The other group is, Gen X, which uses linkedin. The only backdraw is that fact that it hasn't opened up its database to others like facebook.
Which brings us to facebook. You have the power to view the database of Gen Y and later. Basically everyone born after 79. Most of those college students, masters, undergrads and post grads are on it.
So in light of that you can use facebook to test your polls through specifying your poll of people 20-28, by region, location, university, area, company. Almost all of them with unique individual .EDU email addresses, which identifies their identity as real students in colleges or alums etc.
sure it limits you in the demograph, but its accuracy is certainly undeniable. Having used it and built plenty of business models based on just that (because I am in a college market related field) I think you spoke out based on your faith on ... well your wild imagination.

Re: What Conservatives and Republicans think about us
.... ooookay. No need to start spluttering about, Jack.
I was merely responding to your ridiculous claim of conducting "true" and "accurate" polls. A claim made all the more tenuous given the extremely brief and limited time you've spent in your current field.

You shouldn't care about other people's opinions unless they're giving you money to care.

I know, but it's still interesting to see what people think about us. As far as the results, I'm not suprised.

Re: What Conservatives and Republicans think about us
Wolfn, I live in probably the most liberal state in the country, but my town specfically is a republican stronghold.
They recently showed the movie "Obsession" here at the local Republican Club. After the movie there was a discussion period. Some people yelled "incinerate them (muslims", and "bomb Mecca," and so on and so forth, with lots of applause after each statement.
It's scary to think that within a few miles from where I live there's people who'd want to attack Muslims....

Yeah, that's true.
Seriously, why are Republicans so obsessed about us? They look to paint any crime on Muslims. For example, after Virginia Tech, Michael Savage was saying the shooter was Muslim. Whenever there's an activity like that, they automatically assume Muslims are behind it. Why can't they just leave us alone?
I don't know why I was doing this, but I was just reading stuff that Michael Savage (hyper-conservative) was saying, and that guy needs to be beaten to a pulp. He says that the Tsunami victims from 2004 deserved what happened to them because they were Muslim and that he won't spend a nickle helping them, and other crap like that.
