OK, I'll drop this because it's getting absurd. I just got another timeout on PressTV, but that could just be because it's busy. It's kind of moot - lots of images are getting out anyway.

You win. It was wholly unfair of me to accuse the regime of censorship. I now consider them to be paragons of press freedom.
I'm not sure what to tell u dude. Here's a screen shot of the website. I'm attaching it.

I do know they didn't extend the 10 day visas they gave to reporters. This came from a news source. I'm not really surprised though. I wouldn't want outsiders interfering with my business either.

A good portion of my family is. I am not but have close ties with Iran due to family and freinds that are currently there. I've been there myself and can speak the language. Does it really matter though?

No, it doesn't really matter. I was just curious; I didn't know if I was the only Iranian on this site or not. Have you been able to get a hold of your family / friends? My dad is in Iran right now and not able to call outside Iran. I didn't know if it was just him (using a cell phone) or if no one can make calls outside Iran these days (even with land-lines).

I'm not sure about phone but I chatted MSN with a close freind who is in Tehran... He said he's fine. He also said the situation isn't really as bad as the media is making it seem. He works for a newspaper.

inshallah your father is fine.

Maybe rural masses is a fittin description but i wouldn't emphasize uneducated. Iran has a pretty solid education rate. And the rural/urban variance in education rates is fairly small. Rural literacy rates run at 72% compared to urban at 84%.
UNICEF - At a glance: Iran, Islamic Republic of - The big picture

Regardless of your attempt to dismiss them - uneducated or not they are the people of Iran. Democracy does not qualify educated people vs uneducated. remember? If it did, we should take literacy rates by province and assign a huge electroal vote count to the educated provinces and reduce others. That's more like an oligarchy. Rule of the elite.

yup.
I heard the pic was forged by a mousavi supporter to try and make Ahmedinejad look bad. Did you see the video above? Was that forged too? I talked to my freind in Tehran. he said you couldn't find a single street in Tehran that was not packed for the celebration.

a few million? Either way evne with the organized rallies the mousavi supporters were nowhere close the the quantity of ahmedinejad supporters at the victory rally.

Just saying it how it is.

i don't think you are capable of hearing anything even remotely critical of ahmedinejad without instantly jumping up to defend him. its quite fascinating really. to me, that indicates a real inability to think impartially, and really makes anything you say increasingly less credible.

I don't think it's hard to believe that Ahmedinejad won the election fair and square... and to be honest I don't see why people are protesting. I'll be the first to admit that I have very little understanding of how the Iranian gov't works, but I do know that it's the revolutionary council that gets the final say on most executive decisions. So if they want any real change to the status quo, it's going to be the council that loses its power.

I think anyway

lol the pot calling the kettle black.

I can't stand people that know nothing about the region talking as if they're experts. So i just point out the flaws in their misinformation. You're one of these people.

What you have to keep in mind is, the protests / demonstrations are not just about this election. In fact, I believe there are some people out there protesting / demonstrating who don't doubt Ahmedinejad won. Even those who are doubtful of the election results, may be out there not just to express themselves regarding this election, but to express their frustrations in general. This election was just the "string that broke the camel's back", so to say. They are protesting / demonstrating because 1) it's very rare to be able to say something "anti-government" in public without getting punished. The mass volume of people who are out there is a support. You can't punish a crowd of thousands. Or at least, I hope not. 2) Those Iranians on the street know they have the attention of the world now. They know that people will be curious about Iran, may think differently about Iran (or Iranians), may even be curious to learn a thing or two, etc. So they aren't going to be quiet now.

That makes more sense. Though apparently they have been punishing the crowds through something called the Basij(sp?)... identifying people during the daytime protests and then dealing with them later that night. -so some reports say coming out of Iran anyway. (I know this probably isn't news to anyone but me )

I saw a protest here last earlier in the week... there was an anime convention right next door, and then then all of a sudden I saw all this mass with Irananian flags and I was a little confused. It's only a matter of time before the pendulum swings the other way and this is probably a key event for that.
