I think stories like this are lame attempts to imitate hadith, and they serve no purpose other than to glorify the supposed "piety" of mu'mins.

Not to mention, I dont like Suhaib Webb. At all. I have met him numerous times, and he comes across as more of an opportunist than anything.

Fair enough....personal tastes and all. I think it's important to remember this was a blog post made based on some quick notes he wrote.....it wasn't meant to be a fine piece of literature or anything. Reminders like these are a common instructive tool.

Why the suspicion bro? Suspicion serves no useful purpose. Besides he does some seriously laudable work. Personally, I love the guy.

To be popular, respected, liked, appreciated, etc...

He started out as a novelty story to inspire faith, like "whoa this cracka from the projects can become a pious muslim then anyone can!" and went from there to becoming a keynote speaker and what not.

Agreed, but that doesnt mean I have to like it or endorse it.

Not only is that none of your business, but what relevance does that have to not liking this story?

Once again, I like how you dodge the questions...

As for its relevance, it really is relevant. You are a bad person overall. Only a bad person would scoff at such a story. Your mannerisms are a reflection of this. Your opinions are irrelevant. You are the pathetic type of Muslim who wouldn't feel any qualms mocking the Sunnah, etc.

Your opinion is disregarded just like the opinions of the same kufaar whose lifestyle you so emulate.

well when i said filling a void, i was talking about the community having a need for imams that can actually speak english

the time when imam suhaib got started it was really hard to find someone who can actually communicate with the younger people

so its not his fault that he was made popular by people like me

It was opportunistic in the fact that his life wasnt exactly going places before he became muslim and a speaker. Now he lives a comfortable life giving corny speeches all over the world.

I agree, I mean more power to him for taking advantage of the situation, I'm just not swooning over these silly stories like everyone else seems to be.
