Assalamo Alaikum,

"Religious" huh. Well MashaAllah brother. Thats good to hear that atleast one person came out with something from the fitnah filled place. I suppose there is some good there, but over all it is a waste of time. To those who are seeking more ilm than just a 20,000 people bazaar and a few here and there motivational lecture, ISNA wouldn't be the ideal place. However, if one is new or rather starting to practice, I suppose ISNA could be a good hopping base. But akhi, I tell you, after you increase in your emaan and knowledge InshaAllah. You will come to realize this on your own InshaAllah.
Is this the part where you tell us you went to a madrassah in pakistan and you "melded hearts and minds" () with a shiekh during private time and somehow thats better for your iman?

yes, religious. prior to attending my first isna i wasnt really active in the deen. but listening t lectures and being around wonderful brothers that i met there had a profound effect on me.

there are a few bad apples. but im one of the core helpers with TDC, attended almost every AM seminar in houston, helped organize deen intensives, attended alim, etc. the point being that ive been a part of the whole spectrum of muslim institutes and conventions and bad apples can be found in all of them. "club isna" is under the spotlight a little more only because of the amount of people that go.

but if youre in the qss and troid camp then good for you.

Assalamo Alaikum,

Hrmm, I'm sorry if I come out like that. To be honest. Nope:
a ) I'm not pakistani and have never attended a madrasa
2 ) I...really don't think I'm better than the person below or above me I was just giving my opinion
III ) The imaan part, well I'm just saying, not every one goes to these conventions and comes out with a high eman.

Sorry if you got a wrong idea about me akhi, don't mean to make enemies.

Masha'Allah that is awesome akhi. I do however agree, Texas Dawah Conference is a lot better. I went to the previous one and was satisfied. A few good shuyukh were there definitely. I just condemn ISNA for their lack of organization and control over the youth.

club isna should fall apart this year, i dont think anyone goes to columbus ohio to party

anyway.....people have a completely wrong idea about isna

ISNA is strictly about communion and comraderie(sp?)

its only about the community getting together........so you shouldnt have counted on it to boost your iman or gain knowledge, thats your own fault

what bothers me the most about isna's "lobby scene" is how rude it is to the hotel staff as well as those staying there for reasons other than the isna conference. muslims are generally an obnoxious bunch.

So since when is doing anything for the sake of Allah not suppose increase your emaan? Rather watching kids sell drugs in the hayat made it worse!
But your right, maybe Ohio won't be that bad insha'Allah. And Allah Knows Best.

I'll be at ISNA engaging in all sorts of shenanigans.

Whoever wants to hang out, PM me your contact information.

Also, instead of having an Islamica meet up AT the convention center, why don't we just pick a place and time and people can just meet up that way? Its always disorganized when we meet up at hte convention center.

it's always made me come out feeling good and inspired, but thats only because i wanted that, you'll find what you're looking for, if you're looking for drug dealers, then you'll find them, if you're not, then you wont have to worry about them

and its unfair to associate the isna convention with "club isna", isna struggles to contain the problem

SubhanAllah you people know about ISNA. Don't go there. It is not good. Yasir Qashi won't be there either.
Who is this Qashi character?

yeah, from an organizational standout it is well done, but thats because the crowd is MUCH SMALLER. tdc had around 3,000 last year, whereas ISNA always gets over 30,000. you cant compare an apple to a tarbooz (watermelon). also, being the PR guy for TDC, i know that many of the volunteers take part for the "perks" of volunteering. but i dont want to shatter your pristine perception of tdc and its attendees so i wont divulge.

dont exaggerate. you make it seem as if its a haven for immorality and vice. i know members of the youth that smoke "weed" on masjid property during taraweeha and a few years back some teenagers got caught making out on top of a local masjid here in houston. you address the problem and curtail it. you dont condemn the whole masjid for what a few youth do.

also, ideally everything you do for the sake of Allah should increase your iman. but it always doesnt. when i go to isna and hear sh yasir or imam siraj speak, i love it. and my imaan also increases just being in the presence of allah. and when i play basketball at my masjid with 20 other brothers (for the sake of Allah), my imaan doesnt necessarily increase, even though im doing it for the sake of allah. it depends on whats specificially being done.
