I don't think the fact that it's worse to accuse a woman of zina somehow reflects that it's reasonable to emphasize woman having "good" bevavior more than men. I just think it's worse in and of itself and also because a woman be more offended than a man would.
I actually think good behavior should be emphasized for men more because they are the ones who usually initiating and women often feel pressured give in. Yes yes, I know some women seduce, blah blah, but generally speaking, men go after women.

Omg. He really did change his argument again, didn't he?

a) The fact is God has told both men and women to keep themselves chaste. The command on keeping oneself chaste is the same for both. But when it comes to protecting the personal image of one's chastity, clearly its more important for people to understand that there are serious consequences for impugning the chastity of women, as opposed to men.

Ahahahhaha.
Kudos, IbnM. You're so predictable.
One thing I have to say for you: at least you're consistent in your behaviour.

I'm gonna throw the gauntlet down. There is no way anyone can convince me that Islam (not muslims projecting their cultural/historic understandings) encourages the idea that a woman's chastity is more important than a man's.
Like I noted earlier, I can definitely agree that women face obvious restrictions as compared with men in order to protect both from zina. But the notion that the chastity of sister's is prized above that of brother's will find no textual support.
"For muslim men and women,
for believing men and women.
for men and women who are patient and constant.
for men and women who give in charity , for men and women who observe fasting, FOR MEN AND WOMEN WHO GUARD THEIR CHASTITY
and for men and women who engage much in God's praise.
for them has God prepared forgiveness and great reward". (33:35)
Prove me wrong

I think we can just leave it right there.

Throughout this entire thread, I have consistently said that a woman's chastity is held in higher regard.
As usual, when you can't comprehend or follow what's being said you resort to saying "haha, you're flip-flopping".
And then you get served.

can you do me a big favor and stop posting in my thread, well this particular one for right now. In three days you're allowed to have communication with the rest of us, according to hadith. For we can't go too long without talking to one another. lol but really can you just stop posting in this one please? For the sake of Allah, Allah will (inshallah) reward you for restraining yourself from cursing or name calling or just being a plain jerk.

Your post here speaks for itself:
http://www.islamicaweb.com/forums/ge...tml#post175083
You specifically said that I was talking about the public image of a woman's chastity and that you weren't. When I asked you point-blank whether you think there's more of a value placed on a woman's chastity in Islam, you said yes and said it's because accusing a chaste woman is a major sin.
Now you're saying you were talking about public image all along. And now of course you're going to get into what "higher regard" and "more of a value" means. You like to play the semantics game a lot.
Notice you insulted me in that post also. That's kind of your way of dealing with everybody, eh?
Have a good day. Wassalam.

can you do me a big favor and just put me on ignore? thanks.
And this isn't "your" thread. Its a discussion on Islamica plain and simple. You don't get to have ownership of the thread, or have any say in what can be posted in it or not.
