ever try polyphasic sleep?

two hours of sleep gets you as much rest as a regular seven or eight or sleep at night.

and yes, you can actually be fully alert and awake for the rest 22 hours.

have you tried it?

i was all into the idea a couple years ago, then i read mixed feedback on it, and somebody i know who tried it said it wasn't that great of an idea unless you ACTUALLY have things to do and occupy yourself with 22 hours of the day.

no I havent tried it myself at such an extreme extent, but I have done the four hour sleep and awake for the rest 20.

I asked several doctors about it, some of them laughed, but all of them said its alright to do as long as you don't continue it non-stop for more than six months at a time.

And I agree, you shouldnt try staying awake for 22 hours unless you have like two back-to-back jobs or you have some other pressing and legitimate reason to stay awake so much, on an extended basis, day after day.

But yeah, power-naps are awesome. I rarely ever drink coffee, so taking a 20 minute nap for me right at my desk leaves me feeling pretty refreshed

i try to avoid taking naps cuz they mess up my sleep cycle. my body thinks its waking up in the morning again and im never able to sleep at night if ive napped during the day. so ill end up all sleepy the next day and want to take a nap after work and it turns into a vicious cycle of nap dependency.

that being said...sleep is nice

I hate naps. I never feel refreshed after them. Just groggy and cranky and tired. When I sleep, I want to sleep for at lesat 6 hours.
