Default Have you prepared for Death?

It's inevitable obviously and unpredictable unfortunately. Have you prepared? I'm thinking of writing a will and some letters to loved ones. I did it when i was 19 but they're outdated now

Has anyone else prepared? What sort of stuff have you sorted out? I've decided that it's probably a good idea to get married at some point because i don't want my pension to go to the state Maybe i'll pretend i'm gay and marry Rain or someone and let her inherit it

Slightly off-topic, but reminds me of a lecture by Imam Anwar Al-Awlaki where he says something along the lines of, 'Too often people don't prepare for death, and when they do, it is on this side of the equation, and they don't prepare for their afterlife or the grave'.

May Allah subhanna wa ta'ala save us from the horrors of the grave and grant us jannat al-firdaws. Ameen.

[Sorry for going off-topic, but it triggered the thought]

I used to have a box full of things I didn't want other people to see, and I attached a note on saying I wanted it to be destroyed if I died.
That is one of the many stupid things I've done.

It would be fun to leave a blank suicide note if I ever commited suicide though. Astagfirullah.

That's not off topic it's true, both sides have to be prepared for, after all it is a transition from one state to another.

Are you trying to make fun of the fact we're being blase about it? Or does your love of raspberry jamrolls supercede mortality?

It is terrifying but it is a reality.

The biggest preparation for death on this side is life insurance. It's pretty important to make sure everyone you leave behind is taken care of in whatever event.

I like to think I'm prepared mentally and spiritually, that I'm ready and do my best every day to keep it that way.

Whenever I think of dying, I remember the quote...

I dunno. My grandma suffered for years with cancer. She was dying a very slow, painful death. She died when I was 8, but I remember being told that when she actually died, the actual moment of death, her face relaxed, she smiled, and it looked like all the pain she had been suffering for all those years just melted away. I think in her case, dying was painful, but death itself was painless.

Every person feels pain when he dies, Muslims and Non-Muslims. Even the Prophet sallalahu alayhi wasallam was not exempted from it. It is called the stupor/throes of death, the sakaraat al mawt.

It says in the Qur'an: And the stupor of death will come in truth: "This is what you have been avoiding!" (50:19)

Aishah (radhiAllaahu 'anha) related: [On the occasion of his approaching death], Allah's messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) had a small vessel of water placed before him. He began to dip his hands in the water, and wiping his face with them. He said: There is none worthy of worship except Allah. Indeed death brings with it agonies! Then he raised his hand up and kept repeating, 'In the most exalted company' until his soul was taken and his hand fell limp. [Bukhari]

The only ones who do not feel the pain at the time of death are the Shaheed, they only feel a nip. [Tirmidhi].

I don't think I'm prepared for death. Though it is a comfort knowing that I'm basically made of mulch so my body will someday be nourishment to blades of grass and perhaps a few daisies, roses, or tulips. Or if I'm really lucky, a coleus or a crown of thorns (there really is a plant called a crown of thorns) or a cactus. I'm serious!

But I'm too young yet and I'm not quite ready to leave this world behind.

assalamu alaykum

why is death capitalised?

I'd be happy to die if a received revelation that I wouldn't be punished forever. Since that's never going to happen I'm positively petrified.
