Re: Really nice strangers
males generally tend to be much nicer to female strangers than male strangers. unless they're fat. sometimes, even if they're fat.
generally noone tries to talk to me, but when they do, i'm mean to everyone

Re: Really nice strangers
I love old people.
On my way to college, I used to walk pass the same old man every morning. He looked like he was always on his way to work [he must have been about 70+?]. He used to smile and tip his typical old man hat to me and I'd smile back. After a few months of this, he started saying hello and later, we'd stop to have a good old natter about the weather and life in general. He was so sweet and so posh.
I haven't seen this him in a few years now, I don't walk in that direction anymore but I'm surprised I haven't seen him around. Maybe he retired?

I get that a lot too. I can't help it either.
I met this elderly mute man once at the laundramat. He carried out a whole conversation with me in sign, but not proper sign cause I don't understand much of it. Anyways, at the end of the conversation he told he liked me. It was kinda awkward. Topics went from religion to marital status. I'm sure he was just making conversation and there's nothing more to it.

Re: Really nice strangers
Ayeshaa just reminded me of this one time we saw an arab dude at Jack in the Box. first he tried making conversation and asking us where we're from and what not. it got kinda creepy; we were like uhhhh okay? *steps a few feet back*
but then he asked us what we wanted and ordered us food. we kept saying no no it's cool, don't bother. but he insisted. so then he ordered two whole meals for us. and we told him there was no need, we could share and he said, "no no, you girls need to eat."
yeah. it was yummy

LOL. Awesome.
Never deny a man the chance to buy you something.
I love when they offer me food, but of course I do the "Oh no, it's oki " reply but when they offer a second time, why deny them that blessing? So I concede and accept their offer. Just like when male customers would buy chocolate and buy an extra piece for me. Like, why in the world would I reject a free Lindt Ball?

Re: Really nice strangers
its funny how surprised you all are by nice strangers
where i live everyone is nice! well, not everyone. but a vast majority. were weirded out when someone isnt nice. i remember when i was in toronto we were on the bus and i crashed into someone and she gave me a dirty look, and i said oh excuse me im sorry. and my cousin and her friends laughed at me for saying sorry shes liek NO ONE SAYS SORRY HERE.
anyway, i work in retail so i see the best and the worst of it. sometimes a conversation just sparks from a hi how are you. and people are nice. one couple tried to recruit me into their business but i must admit, some people are jerksss. like i say hi how are you and they stare me down. whatever, theyre have miserable lives its not my fault
im one of those nice strangers i smile at everyone!

Re: Really nice strangers
When I was at the grocery store last night, an older gentleman gave me the cart that he had just gotten and got another one for hmself. And, no, it wasn't because the first one was dodgy.
