Re: The Party Planner
Budo: for everything...ofcourse, numbers like that won't work since a 600 person wedding will probably cost more than $60,000 but a 100 person wedding will probably cost more than $10,000
See, to me a 10grand+ wedding is expensive and I rather put that money towards the down payment for a house.
That's just me though.

Re: The Party Planner
Budmano786: I understand your opinion, and it always helps to keep your head where you can afford it. But I think a lot of these pics/ideas are more so to put things out there for people who might be planning parties/shadis/whatever to extract ideas from and personalize them to fit their own budget. Like sally said, a lot of the stuff-desserts especially-can be done while maintaining a budget. And plus, every woman knows how to work with what she has to make the best of it, or should (I mention women because I doubt any man would want to take part in tea party planning)

I'd imagine 10,000 won't even get you a decent hall if you're in a big city...am I really that off here? I've attended a handful of weddings within the past year that were considerably over $100,000...probably 500-700 people attended...wasn't necessarily extravagant, but were very nice...and that $100,000 estimate I'm including everything...like clothes, decorations, serving food to family and guests while they're over, providing hotels (if you're gonna do that), etc. etc. etc. etc

That looks like a first grade class threw a surprise party for their teacher or something and used a lot of tacky foil looking material. Bad, bad idea.

no, I don't have a $100,000 budget at ALL...that is a lot for a wedding...I was saying thast probably the cost of some weddings I recently attended...I agree that if done intelligently, you can do it for a very reasonable cost...although $50 per head for a 500 person wedding doesn't make much sense...unless you're ONLY factoring in food and the cost of hall plus just some basic extras...I'm including alllll of the other things...and theres a lot of them

Re: The Party Planner
All these numbers + dollar signs make me think I'd rather pay off my student loans (if I end up with a lot).

yep. when we calculate per head, we factor in the cost of the hall and food. bas. kapre and everything else is separate. i don't get how kapre costs would be factored in? in canada, especially where i live, we have a huge desi community. meaning tons of wedding with a demand for large halls and halal catering. supply meets demands very adequately so it all pretty cost effective. alhamdulillah.
