People who hide major secrets from their children and then when the secret inevitably gets out, the child is permanently scarred and forever affected because of his/her parents' idiocy. (ex: telling a child later on that they're adopted or have a different mom/dad than what they thought. why cant they just grow up knowing basic reality and have it properly explained at the right age?!)

OMG

I CANT STAND IT when you're engaged in an email conversation with someone from a professional standpoint..like basically youre writing back and forth..and there's some unwritten rule about signing your name at the END OF EVERY ONE SENTENCE OR PHRASE THAT YOU SEND.

here's an example i made up

"Person X,

We are holding a meeting on the first Friday of next month. Does that work for you? Let us know.

Thanks,

Person Y"

***

"Person Y,

I can't make it that Friday.

Person X"

***

"Person X,

How about the 2nd Friday?

Person Y."

***

"Person Y,

I can't be certain right now. Let me get back to you on that one.

Person X.

***

Sounds good

it's finals week so the dorm has a 24 hour quiet policy. my neighbors decided to throw a party. i have an exam tomorrow morning.

i called the RA on call to report a noise violation, and at about 11:30 (after about an HOUR-- by which time the party had begun to finally die down), i heard her knocking on the door and joking with them.

then, about 20 minutes later, the RA knocked on my door, saying "the dorm isn't a library, so it's not going to be completely silent. you should be more tolerant."

check out the double standard: a few days ago i had a guest over, which is not allowed during finals. i got written up and am going to be put on probation. my guest and i didn't make any noise or bother anyone. but apparently my guest's quiet presence was a bigger deal than loud drunken parties during finals week (by underage people, i might add).

whose side is she on? isn't studying for finals a bit more important than maintaining my neighbors' (who are underage and shouldn't be drinking anyway) social lives?

As an RA that wasn't an appropriate thing for her to say to you. Tell her/your RLM..she will get warned and after 3 warnings she's outta there (im an RA at my school so I know exactly what you can tell the RLM to get her in trouble

)

i'm up late cleaning because i won't have time to do it tomorrow
busy week ahead of me and i don't like it one bit.

thing is, my RA (who essentially told me to stfu) is the senior RA, so i think everything goes back to her. and if not her, it goes to the hall director, with whom i got in trouble a few days ago for having a guest over during finals. i dont want to aggravate anything.

me too!! it's even more annoying when theres a kid who won't leave his mom alone in prayer and she ends up holding him and putting him down and holding him and putting him back down throughout prayer. Or when kids randomly come and sit or lay down on the area where you're going into sujood. I really don't know what to do when that happens haha.

You just pick them up and move them out of the way, or if you're in jam'aah, just pick them up and then do sujoud.

Yeah you can.

Of course I'm not 100% sure about the ladies, but in the mens' section its not uncommon to see men holding their babies or infants or toddlers in prayer just to keep them happy and quiet. If they go into ruku' they hold the baby with one arm and hand, and the other hand is on their own knee ... and in sujoud its similar ... keep the baby pressed close to their chest with one hand and the other on the floor. And then when they're in julous, they either keep holding the baby or set it down on the floor right between their legs until the end of prayer.

I've held babies in prayer myself too and at other times gently moved them out of the way so I could make sujoud.
