Default Merry Christ Mess To You Too

Hi,

How do you response to things like
Co-worker: "only_one: I got your christmass card, i'll bring it to you next week"
only_one: " G thanks, BUTT"
receptionst "Here is your christmas present, thought you might like it" *hands me a box of choclates*
only_One: "for love for Mr. Butt".... Grins and leaves the lunchroom politely:

* Im the youngest at work, so they all treat me like an actual "Kid"

Ways to resolve such issue:
1) Cold Hearted Approach: G thanks but no thanks, I don't celebrate bid3a holidays
2) Be Diplomatic: "Happy Holidays to you too, and here is something for Eid hand them some box of sweet" this is a great opportunity to explain why we celebrate Eid dul Adha, (ps: they have had learned their lesson on Shahr e Ramadan and Eidul Fitr already two months ago, now i think its time for a new lesson.

Personally, i like the second approach, but since they are all dental people: what gift do i give other than a Box of Baklava???

I have a question:

My family is Christian. Do I give them gifts and accept gifts?

It really depends on whre you buy your sheeps from...aka there are difference of opinions..depends which scholar you ask

i did a simple search through two famous fatwa sites
a) Sunnipath
b) Islamqa

Or how about option 3: "Thanks" and give the chocolates to a kid.

The kid is out of question! Let him wander in the forest and cry for his mommy all night long

The dilemma is I got a christmas gift, I feel its quite necessary for me to return this favor so I am thinking of giving them an Eid present, if it is at all appropriate to return "favors", then what kind of Eid gift should I give?

You should accept the gifts so as not to insult them, and give them Eid gifts in return. Check Sunnipath.

Eid is coming up soon if you want to do the above

I wouldn't decline a gift, if they've gone to all the effort to specifically buy you one and wrap it if they have! I have a lot of friends who are not religious but will celebrate it so i will be exchanging gifts, i don't see it as christmas or winter solstice or bodhi day for that matter even though it is all three! (Bodhi Day is on the 18th technically), it's just a festive period now, not anything more than that.

Well my mom's side of the family aren't Muslim and for a while they would send gifts during Christmas, but many years ago they then started giving them during Ramadan. I didn't have any trouble accepting the gifts though! Maybe I should have..I'm not sure.

I don't think theres anything wrong with celebrating Christmas. In fact, it may be a good idea.
Christmas is about the birth of Jesus, not about his crucifixion.
I dont see how it would be any different than celebrating milad.

It is about the birth of God for most and the birth of the son of God for some.

Whats wrong with celebrating it with the intention of celebrating the birth of a Messenger of God [AS]?
