Once in a while we used to get similar storms in my home town. 4 feet of snow in one night. For some reason, it was always my job to go out and shovel it the next day, even though I'm only 5'2.

What she said.
Oh and even if I did get out there and shovel, the friggin snow plows go down the street and push a lot of it right back where it was. The only difference is now it's been run over by cars and is slushy which makes it more heavy. I'm getting upset just thinking about it now

Grumpy? Angst-ridden? Me?
Surely you jest!
I'm not grumpy, I just have a low tolerance for stupidity
I'm actually very quiet in person believe it or not. But I'm seriously not looking forward to another winter here. It feels like we just got over the last one.

I've gone skiing a couple times, and I visit Michigan where it snows.

Well, because I know there are lot's of people in the States who've never seen snow. If you're from Canada... it's already understood that the experience of winter has been seared onto your brain.
Anyway, I ask because after spending a significant period of time away from wintery climes, I met a lot of people who's closest experience with snow was the ice cubes in their Cuba libres. They would tell me 'oh, it snows where you come from, how great!' and I'd tell them 'nooo, you don't understand... it's not as great as you think'.
And then after a long time I found myself actually missing it.

Re: Are there any Islamicans who have never seen snow?
I love snow. I have been so mad that we haven't had any really hardcore snowstorms in Jersey lately. It makes me want to move to Buffalo even more. And I know Syracuse gets more than Buffalo, so perhaps I should be plotting to move there instead...

I kinda miss snow, but I know after living in tx so long I can't deal with it. I start dying once it goes below 80

Re: Are there any Islamicans who have never seen snow?
Ah, I don't mind shovelling snow. I do it. And my mom. And my grandma even before she got really bad arthritis.
The men in my family suck at these things.
I'm also the one who has to go and scrape the snow off the cars in the driveway and start them.
When you see snow all the time in winter, you kind of get sick of it and just want spring to come already. Also, I hate driving in snow. But I know if I ever left Canada, I'd miss the snow.
I've never experienced a winter without snow though, so I dunno how that would be. What, the weather just gets cooler or something?

Yeah, cooler and wetter. So, Seattle actually has a few sunny days in the spring and summer, but starting in about October it either rains, threatens rain, or is generall cloudy until April-May. North Idaho has similar weather. Eastern Washington just gets really cold and dismal, and sometimes they get these artic storms that dump feet of snow, followed by a week of sub-zero temps. Great fun.
I'm not looking forward to my first winter in the midwest. I'm wondering if I need a new coat.

That doesn't sound bad. I think I'd rather have cold rain than snow.
Though I hate driving in both.
One of my students asked me about Seattle the other day, 'cause we were reading an article in which it was mentioned. All I could think to say was that it's the city Dr. Frasier Crane lives in. He didn't get it.
