Some food for thought...Here's an interesting article about how modern-day ashkenazi jews descended from a non-semitic tribe who adopted Judaism as a state religion and who were considered by many to be Gog and Magog. If you just google the word "khazar" you'll find a lot of interesting stuff, including a wikipedia article.

I work with DNA and in order to learn protocols, we were all required in the beginning to sequence our mitochondrial DNA to find out where we came from. There are several Jewish people in my program-some of whom did not trace their DNA back to semitic origins but rather to turco-finnish ones-what the Khazars are described to be. There are a lot of articles and books on this subject.(written by muslims, christians and jews).
