Of course that's a compliment, it looks so yummy!

I got the 'Curry Bible' as a gift for my 18th birthday when I went to Karachi. The author is Madhur Jaffrey and she includes recipes from Indo-Pak as well as adaptations of desi recipes from people who live in S. Africa, Indonesia, England etc and had desi ancestors . I stole my mom's old rice cooker, she never liked it but it works fine for me. The brand is Aroma.

I came home and there was some lobia salan (curry of black-eyed peas) which nobody in my family has made for years now. Years.

So I ate some and I was like "Wow, this is so good" and my mom was like "Your grandma made it, that's why" and I was like... wow.

She hasn't cooked for a while ('cause she was sick and had surgery), but now that she's starting to again, it's great. Hehe.

I heart my grandma.
