Veggie Lasagna. We'll see how it goes tonight, InshaAllah.
I have cucumbers, kidney beans (so there's some feel of substance other than veggies), broccoli, onions, and bell peppers (everything to be sliced/chopped). There's also a huge bag of frozen veggies but I don't think I'll have to use it. Usually I add half a bottle of hot and sour sauce in while the veggies are mixing and tenderizing in the sauce. No different cheeses this time - just mozzarella.
Oven ready lasagna strips are

Re: The Art of Cooking
I might've asked this before but does anyone know how to make shrimp dumplings?? I have a feeling the ones sold at japanese restaurants contain pork.. why? B/c I bought a frozen pack of shrimp dumplings from the grocery store without looking at the ingredients (stupid me.. they stuff pork into everything these days). I came home and happened to look at the ingredients and lo and behold they contain pork .
I loved shrimp dumplings, I wish I knew how to make 'em at home

Re: The Art of Cooking
Emergency! Calling all salmon consumers!
I've never really eaten fish before, and I'm embarrassingly uneducated about it. I eat canned tuna, and other than that, everything's prepared (like sushi)
The other day, I had this amazing smoked salmon on a bagel. I want to make my own! But I don't know what to get from Superstore.
- the stuff I had on my bagel seemed almost raw (even though it said it was smoked). Any grilling or cooking on any surface I'm sure would have destroyed the amazing-ness of the salmon.
So do you just buy the salmon fillets and cut them up ready to eat? Or is that gonna give me a terrible disease? There are no cooking instructions on the packaging.
Was the stuff I had on my bagel cooked in a special way? Or do I have to buy a special kind of salmon? (I looked for a package that said 'smoked' but the only one that was was this dried peppered thing - not like my bagle)
(apologies for my incoherent post... I hope I made sense)

you ate smoked salmon. smoking is a process that does *not* use heat, so it doesn't cook meat the same way...cooking...would. so if you're the type of person who thinks that things are only prepared if put on heat, then essentially, smoked salmon is raw salmon. if you're the type of person who's a little more open to eating options, then smoked salmon is friggin amazing. im pretty sure you had lox, which is the type of smoked salmon most used on bagels. that's what you want to look for at the grocery store. you can either find it in the raw fish case or very nearby. you might also find 'nova lox' which is also similar. buying pretty much any smoked salmon, packaged or not (sometimes they sell it shaved thin in plastic tubs, which makes it easier to put on bagels), will do you just fine. if youre having trouble finding it in the grocery store, ask the fish monger (if your grocery store is at all decent sized, it should definitely exist).
oh and no, you do not want to buy plain raw salmon fillets. i mean you could, and you probably wont get sick, but they dont taste very good. no salt or anything. if you're adventurous, you could try making gravlax (or gravad lax), which is a sugar, salt, and dill cured salmon that you can "make" in your refrigerator at home (but its not smoked). let me know if you want instructions for that.

I love lox. You can buy it already prepared at the grocery store. It's usually in the fish section in plastic (like it's vacuum wrapped). I don't know if you have Costco, but you can get bigger quantities of it there

I'm open to eating options! Will everyone know what I'm talking about by saying "do you have any lox salmon?"
And is the dude's name at the grocery store 'fish mongrel'? (what a crap job title hahah, imagine putting that on your resume)

Re: The Art of Cooking
Alright! I went to my local fish mongrel ... (although there was actually no mongrel in sight), and found some Lox Coho Salmon. It was the only kind they had, but 400g was on special for 12ish bucks. Ima make a bagel with it right now.
