omg. i just made the most amaaaaaazing stuff in like 2 seconds..pure improvisation and abrupt burst of creative genius, i tell you
i had some lean ground beef in the fridge..already boiled. my mom knows i eat differently so every week she'll boil or lightly spice chicken (very rarely beef cuz i dont eat it that much at all) and leave it in the fridge because she knows i build my meals off of those 'bases'
sooooo much props to my mom
i see lean ground beef in the fridge and im like, what to do. so i remember my mom told me it's not cooked properly yet. and before i eat it or make something out of it i should cook it more. so im like okayyyy im starving here. hello.
so i take some of that beef, and fry it in some olive oil on low heat. then, i find half a piece of a huge lemon in the fridge and i squeezed it in its entirety on the beef. so basically, the lemon was the most dominant flavor. let it cook some more. added some garlic powder, oregano, parsley...and cooked some more.
then i increased the heat for a few seconds and let everything cook on high...took it off the stove and while it was still in the pan, mixed fresh basil leaves, pinch of crumbled feta cheese, and shredded parmesan.
and then i tossed it around so the cheese melted nciely all the way through..and i didnt want to put too much cheese because this whole thing is already extra fattening. and if i'd let the cheese sit it would clump in spots and the taste wouldnt be universal..it helps if you use strongly flavored cheeses like i did, because every bit is full of flavor so you need less to emphasize the flavor
after tossing i ate it with wheat pita
however..this got me thinking about how this would be absolutely AWESOME with pasta. it had a really good italian style taste/smell to it. i think i would really love to try this out with pasta and a garlic/butter/lemon sauce
also, i was thinking of cutting up pita, using a little more cheese and some tomato paste and then topping pita pieces with the beef and baking lightly.
would make for awesome appetizers.
also useful for tacos...a nice italian/mexican cross
