We call my cousin Gracie. Its just a nick for someone named Grace.
If I was a Grace I don't think I'd like being called Gracie...hmmm

If it were just a nickname, why would he call her that every single time he refers to her? In writing too?

It is cute as a nickname, to be used occasionally and not all the time.

Thats just how it is when they're young. You call em by that until they start protesting when they reach a certain age.

Heh. I guess.

My baby bro's five now and has decided he wants to change his name. Or at least the spelling of it.

Anyway... my turkey's in the oven right now.
Happy thanksgiving.

I'm making Sweet n Sour Pineapple Chicken Stir Fry tonight.

I've had it before [but with shrimp] and I loved it but I've never made it. I'm not sure if the hubster will like it.

Let me first see how this recipe turns out laimuun.

heba, lol because I get home from work at 10.30. I'm not a morning person, at all. Sometimes I make dinner in the morning if I was too tired to make it the night before. I make 'dinner' the night before so the hubster can have it for luch/dinner the next day and I can pack it for my dinner at work.

The dish was delicious. Sooo good. Love it. Very easy, very simple and uses ingrediants that I already had in my pantry. Definitely a keeper. I can't wait to make it for my family. Even my hubster liked it, so yay.

my dad is a true bangali. he will go out of his way to visit fish markets. so this past weekend he went to maryland with some friends to see what they had to offer. he calls me at noon on sunday: "which kind should i get? should i get the soft-shelled crabs? or the hard ones? the lady says the soft shell ones are good." so i told him, i don't really like soft-shell, only so many ways you can cook it, etc. of course he brings the soft shells home.

pause: since WHEN does my BANGALI dad eat crab?! i get grilled every time i eat something less than normal in this house, and suddenly he's bringing home live crab of all things?? and my MOM, who gets so easily grossed out by seafood, is COOKING IT?!

anyway, so they deep fry it (of course) and my dad's just raving about how great it is (he does this when he "finds" things), even though it was way too salty and WAY too oily. he even admitted that they cooked it in such a way that it pretty much just tasted like shrimp. and he paid $30 for it, to boot. (my dad falls for salesmen's pitches alll the time).

like i said, i'm not a fan of softshells. they're just...unnatural to me. but there were 5 left and i couldn't let maryland crab go to waste (especially in another oil bath like my mom was planning). so i made sandwiches. which sounds all well and harmless, but means that you have to cut off their (moving) legs and faces, and scoop out gut-y stuff while parts of them are yes, still moving. honestly i can usually kind of handle this kind of work, but the fact that they are SOFT shells makes it 10x grosser. like you know all the pointy parts of the crab? like the thorny parts and the claws and...everything? well all that's soft. (shudder) i'll keep the pictures to my blog.

so that was my latest adventure. fortunately, i made it taste pretty good (thank you, mayo with paprika and lime juice...)

Yesterday I made flank steak marinated in a soy-olive oil-honey mixture, squash, salad and a mushroom-onion sauce. It turned out well.

I wanna try that recipe again that I made up a while ago where I marinated a bunch of chicken legs and veggies in a honey-lemon mix then coated them with bread crumbs mixed with spices and had them with chicken-flavored pea rice. Man I miss having time to cook real food.. cant wait til this weekend iA
