look, if you eat/cook your chicken in a non communist, non genocide supporting style/country, it's all gravy.

Re: The Art of Cooking
So I'm hosting a debate dinner/cocktail party on the 26th. Nothing huge, just 3-5 girlfriends.
Still putting together the menu, but it's going to be late, so I'm going to really concentrate on the cocktail part and less on the dinner.
I'm also going to be trying out some non-alcoholic drinks.
And I wasn't able to make the eggplant rolls. Maybe I'll try em out and if they turn out good, I'll make em for the 26th....

Re: The Art of Cooking
Sure.
A lot of the popular alcoholic drinks are easily made non-alcoholic by just swapping the alcohol part with club soda or sparkling water etc.
Whichever one I decide on, I'm hoping to make the cocktail glass super cute by garnishes and rimming it. I love rimmed glasses, they are visually so pretty.

definately go with daquiris. you can make them look SUPER cute, and add little pieces of pineapple, cherries, or whatever to the rim of the glass plus theyre yummy

Re: The Art of Cooking
i made hummus for the first time today after 6 years (which back then, the attemp failed horribly) and alhumdulilah this time around it came out perfect mashallah and everyone loved it! (i was hoping with the blessings of ramadan i wouldnt mess it up.....!)
(the river down the middle was my attempt at a fancy olive oil-ing presentation attempt )

Re: The Art of Cooking
thanks DR!
heres the recipe i used!
1 12-oz can garbanzo beans
1 clove garlic
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
2-3 tbsp tahini sauce (sesame paste)
juice of 1 small lemon
½ tsp salt
Drain 1/3 of the water from the can of garbanzo beans into a small bowl. Set aside for later use.
In a blender, mix together the garbanzo beans with the remaining can water and the rest of the ingredients.
Blend for 1-2 minutes until a smooth, slightly fluid paste is formed.
If desired, add small amount of the saved can water and blend to create a more fluid consistency.
----
for the tahini sauce, i used:
2 tablespoons of sesame seeds (i put them in a pan over the stove and did that desi "til ko saikna" thing (i have NO idea how to put that in english, but no recipe called for this and my desi instincts told me i just HAD to do that to add more flavor to it lol)
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tablespoon olive oil
1/4 cup water...
put all those in a blender and mix well until the tahini sauce is all nice and liquidy, then add the hummus ingredients and blend until teh consistency is nice and smooth...

LOL. Do you mean like "roasting" them?
Thank you for the recipe. InshAllah, I'm going to try it next week and I'll let you know how it turns out.
