Re: Health and Fitness Thread
I'm gaining weight. I've been eating so much for the past few days because of finals and not doing any exercise at all. Just today I had like three chocolate, and I've been having them for a whole week. I feel so unhealthy.
All that healthy eating/exercise gone down the drain.

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
.. scratch out the last part of my post.
but yes, you are more likely to get toned in the ab area compared to him
It has more to do with body fat deposits in male vs. female. Males tend to have higher deposits in the abs area and female have it around hip and thighs.

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
but it's scientically speaking, a lot faster and easier for a guy to lose overall body fat % and get toned than it is for a woman. and since there's no such thing as spot reduction or losing fat from the abs only it's kind of an illusion

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
jelly: I guess it explains how I can do crunches for a few days and see a difference
Same here.
Amroodwaala- come to think of it, I also do machines that bring to and away from me. I suppose I should do more of them.
I'll try to apply your advice-- thanks.
Oh yeah and I am really nervous about bulking up. I have like the female version of my dads body, he's very bulky and I'm afraid that will happen to me. I don't want to look like a man!!!

both. according to various studies it's not entirely true that you burn more fat or calories if you work out in the morning on an empty stomach.
different things work for different people and different body types. some people feel dizzy if they work out without food (me..and in fact it's not that i can't work out first thing in the morning without dying, but more like i feel sick if i haven't had anything to eat in the 2 hours prior to working out)
if your diet is pretty restrictive in general then it's a good idea to eat a little something beforehand. ( by you i mean anyone..cuz you know how i've been hating on you and your diet )
and in fact i recommend eating beforehand to everyone. studies show that if you have something semi substantial in your system prior to working out, then you work out harder and can last longer..which amounts to burning off a lot more calories than working out on an empty stomach.
and of course, eating after working out is a must for most people since before working out they either don't eat at all or eat very little. your metabolism is at its peak. ideally the largest meal should be consumed after your work out; it burns up pretty fast.
high intensity cardio might kill your appetite for a good while though...whereas low intensity may very well result in crazy carb cravings. ive read various physiological reasons backing that up but i cant remember them truly. but in the end it still depends on body type. you gotta figure out what works best for you.
