Re: Health and Fitness Thread
Why don't you try a mix of things sona? You could get tae bo or turbo kick for cardio, something from The FIRM for cardio with some light weights, and pilates. My cable company has some free workouts in the "on demand" section, so see if yours does too. If you have DVR, you can record some workouts too.

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
for me, i know when i work out regularly i feel more accountable for what i eat too. i try to think in terms of how long ill have to exercise in order to burn off whatever it is thats tempting me at the moment. if i want it enough to make that sacrifice, ill eat it. but a lot of the time ill decide its not worth it and not even want it anymore. i think its a good way of looking at things because its really not denying myself, its just a conscious decision.
but yeah, it would have been nice to have been born with a super fast metabolism...sigh.

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
After slacking off this weekend (didn't make it to the gym and since it was snowing, I had no motivation to go outside), I totally made up for it tonight. I took a kick boxing class that totally kicked my butt. I've done tae bo tapes before, but with those, I don't feel back about slacking off. With a teacher yelling at your to keep going, I kept going.
Also, I lost 5 pounds this month now just gotta keep going inshaAllah.

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
I havent worked out since like Wednesday last week, I've found no time w finals etc, been running on too little sleep and I've been getting sick again but to make up for it I try to cut down on unnecessary food and take the stairs more often or walk instead of riding the bus. Alhamdulillah my roommate was like "you look like you lost weight!" When i asked her if she's sure it's not just the black pants she was like no, you really did. So I weighed myself and I'm 1.5 lbs HEAVIER than I was last week.....can anyone explain this awful event?

It's normal for weight to fluctuate. Could be water retention, who knows.
I feel fat though, I feel like I've gained weight since "reading" "period" has started but mostly because I'm on my butt all day studying (well trying to study). I can't wait until the summer where I can go work out like all the time

i think when i hit the gym i had like 500-800 calories on me
and it took me about 2 hrs to do that. i stopped keeping track for a while cuz i know it's not an exact science and is influenced by a multitude of factors
anyways i came home and ate like 800 more i think...maybe 500. not sure. it involved some desi food so i have no idea how much that amounts to

er, yeah it does for me, at least.I unintentionally lost 14 lbs like that. I looked anorexic, and i've put 10 lbs of that back on Alhamdulilah (when I get stressed i do the opposite of comfort eat)

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
The husband has finally found a bribe that works. I've tried books, clothes, pizza, but alas, nothing motivates me...until now!
If I lose 20 pounds by my birthday (late September), I get a cat
Now everytime I think about buying a cupcake or a piece of pizza, I'll picture my kitty and just say no!

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
today was week 1 day 1 of the couch to 5k running program... it was much harder than i expected..
usually its easier for me to just run it straight through... but day 1 says you have to alternate 60s/90s of jogging/walking.. wiped me out! but its a happy feeling though

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
oooohkay there is something wrong with the scale. There is NO way I gained 6 lbs of water weight in the last 3 days...just no way. I dont feel bloated, my pants fit better than ever and its not even that time to get bloated yet. Stupid scale

That's not healthy though . I have found that if I substitute one meal with something tiny like fruit + a granola bar and then eat an early dinner I will lose weight at a steady pace. But that's also if I cut out everything I enjoy like chocolate and stuff (not that I eat a lot of it anyway). That's starving myself and I hate that. The time I tried to lose weight by cutting back on food I truly did "cut back" instead of starving myself. I eat a lot when I'm bored so I have a lot of room to cut back...also, I dont really eat much junk alh, I just overeat with regular food.
