but as for strength training, i wouldn't know where to begin.
A lot of gyms have childcare - maybe that would work for you? If not, you can start with basic stuff at home: squats, lunges, tricep dips off a chair, pushups (start on your knees) and crunches. Get some 5 lb weights to start and then you can add in your other exercises. Good luck!

assalamu alaykum

did i say somewhere in this thread that id try to lose weight by just not eating? if not...i thought it. And although I didn't follow through with my plan (i forgot) i think i lost a pound or two. Right after I put down this pepperoni sandwich I'm going to do some exercises iA. Insha Allah.. 3/4 lbs would be enough.

I wasn't satisfied with yesterday's workout so I want to make sure I get a good sweaty workout in today, Insh'Allah.

I'm so annoyed that my achilles is still sore. No running for me. I'm doing the elliptical, but I have to take it easy.

I tried it that way and the thing is, 'lifestyle change' doesnt say the same, when say for example, your lifestyle...changes...

eg, During the last summer holidays I was pretty much at home, with plenty of time, away from tempting foods, and time to workout whenever I wanted. I lost an okay amount of weight but my diet was soo boring (it was just low calorie stuff), so when I got back to uni surrounded by tempting foods, and was too busy to work out, I put much of the weight back on.

I guess I coul'dve made the effort to make time to work out, or make my own packed lunch, but I just felt either so busy or tired and also was too fed up of eating boring food that I kind of didnt care, it seemed like too much effort.

But then I get fed up of being fat and now the cycle starts all over again .

They say if you don't eat or eat really late, then instead of losing weight, you gain

Sona: you're probably not losing weight, but maybe you're not gaining any either It'll take a long time to lose if you eat less and don't do exercise

Simply eating less really doesn't do anything. A few years ago I did that and only lost 5 lbs in 2 months. As soon as I kicked my butt into gear, ordered a bellydancing dvd from amazon and spent about 30 minutes on the treadmill 3 times a week (plus the dvd everyday) I lost 20 lbs and got really toned in less than 2 months .

yeah, jelly has a valid point.

eating less doesnt do much for a lot of people..or if it does it's so slow that people get discouraged

sona, i would suggest getting some really nice work out dvds and doing those routinely.

jelly, which ones did you do?

I got Rachel Bryce's 'Tribal Fusion' dvd. I was really obsessed with doing it in the beginning and it helped A TON but now it's boring. It teaches some really basic belly dance moves and yoga. You sweat and build muscle a lot .

If anybody wants it I can send it to you (for free of course).
