im hitting up the gym id say 4-5 times a week, and my only days off are due to my work/school schedule and i cant go.

i do 30-45 mins of weights...alternating between 3 workouts every time i go...back and shoulders, arms (biceps, tricepts) and mid/lower back, and legs and abs

then i do 30-45mins of cardio. i usually do some elliptical and some treadmill. on the treadmill i do walk for a few, run for a few, run faster, walk, run, run faster, etc.

and all in the while i drink like 3 bottles of water

and for my diet..well, it sucks lol. for breakfast i either have a protein shake or boiled eggs or scrambled eggs with asparagus with veeeeeery minimal olive oil. and NO SALT on anything, i use this mrs.dash no salt seasoning.

for lunch i have salad, a protein shake, chicken, chicken salad, or somethign along those lines. no carbs no salt no sugar. (except sometimes the chicken is seasoned with a bit of salt and i dont care lol)

and for dinner kinda the same as lunch. i have tilapia sometimes but i dont like fish much because i NEED salt on that and i cant have it. or chicken salad once again. steamed veggies.

i can also eat tuna, i add lemon and pepper on that. its not bad. tuna on salad is yummy too and every now and then i add a bit of carb but i make sure i have A LOT of protein that day. the weight watchers bread is pretty good.

and for snacks i cut up fresh veggies, muschrooms, cucumbers, red pepeprs, cherry tomatoes. or i have a liiiiiitle bit of peanut butter. or something along those lines. maybe a small handful of nuts. or i drink crystal light or fresca. lol

so YEAH. thats basically whatsup. i cant have anything starch-y..and not too much fruit, because they have sugar. if anything ih ave apples because those are probably the best of all the fruit. i blend them with my protein shake and its yummy.

SO..no salt, no sugar, no carbs is the main jist of it lol. and lots of water. id say 3-4 litres a day.

and this diet is really hard because i never feel satisfied. well, sometimes i dont. i want a yummy snack haha. its been 1.5weeks, and im hoping to go 4 weeks kinda hardcore. then ill start adding some things back in, because by then i will lose some weight (inshallah) and ill just want to maintain it or only lose 1lb max a week.

shadha-
some friendly advice..always do circuit/resistence/weight/strenght training before doing any form of cardio (treadmill, elliptical, etc). there are varying views on this but the most dominant is the one i'm telling you. always warm up on a cardio machine beforee doing circuit training for about 5 minutes, really really lightly..you just want to get warm and sweat lightly so there is lubrication between your joints before you hit them with resistence.

also if you do cardio first then resistence training you start breaking down muscle rather than fat and that could slow down your metabolism

It's also easier to maintain your weight loss if you lose it the healthy way. So it pays off more in the long run

alhamdulillah

I've finally set a routine for myself:

stretches, treadmill(2-3miles), elliptical(20-30 mins), and finish off with weights.

awesome..iA it works out for you.

though dont stretch cold muscles..if you really want to stretch..generally stretches are more important after working out...then do so after walking lightly for a couple minutes on the treadmill..

and do the weights before the treadmill and elliptical

so

warm up 2 mins
stretch
weights
treadmill/elliptical
stretch

I workout more days than not. Alhamdulilah, I'm quite happy with that much progress . Insh'Allah I can keep it up. The most difficult thing is getting started. However, once I get started I can just go on for an hour or even more as opposed to my initial 30 mins goal.

I think i will work out 3x per week inshallah.. every monday, wednesday and friday I have class from 9 - 9:50 and then 11 - 11:50. With that hour or so in between I can walk to the other side of the quad and use the elliptical and treadmill for 40 minutes + crunches etc, then after the last class at 12 I go back home, shower, eat lunch and do homework. Thats what I did on Friday and it was awesome! Then tuesdays and thursdays are yoga for me but that ends in about a week and a half

I need to work on it more now cuz the hubby's coming this week or next week and I need to see some progress fast!

What if I'm doing about 20 minutes of elliptical 3 times a week plus crunches, lunges etc afterwards plus yoga for 1 hour twice a week...plus cutting down on eating when I'm only bored and not hungry. Also I have been trying to walk everywhere on campus instead of taking the bus.

If I want to lose weight fast (about 5 - 7 lbs) do I need to up the amount of exercise?
