It only happened once and it was really a teeny tiny chip but obviously it had some impact b/c it's the same ankle again.. man I wish he'd listen and go to the dr

He is saying he's retiring from bball and switching to roller hockey because "the skate supports your ankle"....yea and what about the 100 other injuries that could take place (cracked head, twisted knee, broken arm.. God forbid ). He's too careless with himself. Ah anyway.. next time I speak to him I'll start nagging about a doctor visit, inshallah it will work.

if the swelling has gone down thats a pretty good sign that this time it was just a ligament strain. i'm guessing he landed wrong or on someone's foot and 'rolled' the ankle? the healing process of damaged tissue can leave it weaker than its original strength, so therefore he is going to be susceptible to reinjurying that ankle once again.

Yousuf mentioned a great way to prevent them is by recognizing early when you've landed wrong and just crumpling, taking the weight off that ankle. and i'm guilty of this, but make sure he is not using low-top (e.g. running) shoes to play. basketball shoes are high-tops precisely because ankle injuries are one of the most common in the sport (along with bruised egos and shattered dreams of becoming the next mj)

i'm getting there.....just gotta grow another 6-12 inches

I wasn't going to the gym today (its Friday - my fun day), but I thought what the hell, I should go! I did about 40/45 minutes on the elliptical. I feel so good, Alhumdulillah.

45 minutes on the treadmill followed by a 20 min weight training session. Alhamdulilah.

All this talk about treadmill vs. elliptical is making me wish I had purchased an elliptical instead. The treadmill makes my knee and ankle feel funny.

yea inshallah he'll listen! just keep nagging, its for his own good

knees...they seem to me the worst and hardest injury to come back from. my right knee was injured in December and it would just not heal.
finally went to the doctor...i know stupid, and now its almost back to normal alhumdillah after a couple weeks of therapy stuff and ibuprofen.
I will be wearing those brace thingies for it now though.
gonna try some full court ball on Sunday and inshallah it'll hold up.

p.s.
any you guys get knee injuries just wait until its fully healed inshallah before going back out! sucks to keep re injuring it for months.

Yeah, my achilles was sore after my race on Sunday and I started running too soon and now it's worse .

I'm resting now though.

I have next to no appetite... hmm

Kinda hungry, but don't want to eat, I guess cutting out carbs has that effect? Or maybe I'm stressed... probably both.

Inshallah tomorrow I start a workout program with my roommate. Our goal is to lose 5 lbs each by the end of April. Every MWF I will work out at the gym on the elliptical + crunches/lunges etc and every T and Th I will do yoga + crunches/lunges etc. Tomorrow I dont have time but I will inshallah fit in 1/2 hour on the elliptical after class (from 12 - 12:30).

My goal is to look completely different by the time the hubby comes back (inshallah mid-end of May).. oh, and to fit back into my cotton pants and summer shirts from last year

Usually after a good workout, my muscles are sore all over. Today however, there are pin points of pain that hurt when I move a certain way. Not good, not good at all.

My workout schedule gets messed up when I wake up late. Need to fix that insh'Allah, so that I don't use "lack of time" as an excuse to skip out. I dislike using time as an excuse for anything.

So my horrible schedule prevented me from starting the work out plan on time, although I did get a few minutes in today alhamdulillah. Tomorrow after I'm done with class I'm gonna start by going to the gym inshallah..

Oh and this is the best healthy snack ever.. I LOVE them. Asian pears.

hmm.. never tried those or even heard of them. I'd ask my Turkish roommate but she laughs at me whenever I mention or eat anything healthy .

edit: these?

they look good!
