dont worry my stomach dosnt look like mans abs, i do exercise i dance and run when im allowed to use the treadmill, but crunchs have worked for me to tone them and keep my stomach super flat, so im gonna stick to it, i only increased the amount because my stomach is getting used to it and with 500 i just dont feel the burn.

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
Lots of strenght training today. 60 leg reps, 30 pec reps, and 40 for the arms.
My highest speed on the treadmill is now 5.5 and I go at an incline of 4.0..

Nooo working out for me today, but inshaAllah cardio tomorrow, and more hardcore lifting on Wednesday. I'm trying to convince myself to go swimming tonight, but me thinks I'll just want to flop on the couch as soon as I get home from work and not move.

good idea. "hardcore lifting" shouldn't be done consecutive days; you need a day between for your muscles to catch up with all that lactic acid.
i went hiking yesterday- but not on a trail. a friend of mine had to re-set a few traps (to monitor, not catch), so we used a handheld GPS to get out to literally the middle of the woods. it involved a lot of walking through spider webs, but it was actually pretty cool. it was nice for once to not hear/see/smell people and roads. anyway, the reason i'm posting this here is because it was pretty strenuous; you eat/drink a *lot* while hiking and it just never ceases to amaze me. i wish i could do that kind of thing more often.

You need to bike more than four miles to start losing fat. More like 10-15 miles. And after you get reasonably good (going 30 miles without it affecting you much) then you can start racing your hubby. That's when you'll really start losing fat. Then you can start building muscle...
Recommendation: After you can go a reasonable distance like 10-15 miles without tiring out too much, then get road bikes or cyclocross bikes...

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
In addition to your cardio workout (your biking), it would be a good idea to incorporate 2 days of weights/strength. These two types of exercise compliment each other, and help you get in shape better.
Several of the women's wellness magazines have exercises online. If you don't have access to a gym and a trainer who can set something up for you, check out these ready made workouts. Just make sure you use enough weight. One of the biggest mistakes women make when working out is to use wimpy little weights. You should be lifting enough weight to do the recommended amount for your program and no more - literally working your muscles until it burns.
Fitness Magazine
Self Magazine
Women's Health magazine
I've subscribed to all three of these at one time or another (although now I only get women's health). I would cut out the workouts (or tear out the workout cards that come in some), and the healthy recipes, and then throw the rest of the magazine away, so I wouldn't be left with 100s of magazines. After a year's worth of magazines, you should have a good variety of strength/weight routines.

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
There are a lot of different kinds of crunches and abs workout out there. I like to do a variety, to keep my muscles confused. If you do the same exercise over and over, your muscles get used it it, and the exercise is less effective.
Click the links I had n my previous post and look under the "abs" heading. Remember that there is more to abs workouts than crunches, as there are several different muscles you need to work, and crunches don't work them all.
