You can make desi food fairly healthy. Try making grilled lean meats marinated in yogurt, dahl, or brown basmati rice.

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
if anyone is thinking about getting adidas running shoes, they should reconsider. the laces always seem to rip really quickly and they are pretty uncomfortable for anything other than running. even for running they hurt on the instep. my feet are killing me for having used them for basketball and racquetball.
my last pair were new balance running shoes and I never had a problem, even for side-to-side movement activities. :thumbsupwhichisn'tworkingsouseyourimagination:

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
ohhhh. so this one girl at my gym is like a director or manager at the little gym. ( The Little Gym – Developmental children’s gyms that will make a difference in your child’s life)
basically it's like a place to keep kids active. they offer structured work outs for toddlers and above. pretty cool
they also have sort of babysitting on weekend nights..parents will drop their kids off and you make them do crafts, work out with them etc
so the girl basically offered me a job there to work as a kids group exercise instructor. she'd train me and evertyhing. i was thinking what a unique sort of experience it'd be. i dont like to watch kids i dont know too well but this is really different
anyway i dont really have time in my schedule for that job right now because i definitely intend to keep the one i already have..and ive cut back on hours tremendously on it recently. and school is more important at this point no doubt. buuuut the little gym is almost as close to my home/school as my current job. like not out of the way. and so i told her that i will consider the opportunity for the summer time inshaAllah..we'll see. it would totally rock. i need to do a seperate 'fitness' internship anyway

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
I've had a few pairs of runners, nikes, adidas, asics and nb.
the nikes and adidas were all hype and turned out to be crap
the nb were good, but the asics are the best by far

ive never owned a pair of asics in my life but ive been hearing good things about them so im gonna check it out
except i havent really looked into whether they have individual stores like NB or whatever. i hate buying from places that sell all sorts of shoes bc they dont necessarily have the best models. i buy my NBs from new balance specific stores. their staff is off the chart awesome. well trained, etc theyve got treadmills you can use to try on a shoe, etc

I don't like the brand specific stores because I feel like I don't get to evaluate everything thats out there. That said, when it comes to running shoes I go to running specific stores like running room and runner's world so that I don't waste my time with the discount crap they have at footlocker and the staff all tend to be 30+ miles/week runners so they speak from experience.
