See, that's the type of **** that would tick me off, which would lead me to get kicked out of the class.

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
today i did the bike as one of my cardio sets. it was done at a resistance of 15/25. it sucked. my legs were killing me. its still not as hard as the stairmaster or a treadmill run... but it def was a work out.

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
i stole a bunch of ideas from some reading and put them together and came up with my own diet. and i put one girl on it. let's see if she follows thru. well. it's not really a diet diet. it's a bunch of foods that are ok in my book and that you can just put together in diff ways and eat. mix and matchhhhhhh. and in the end it would be common sense for someone who'd done slight reading on eating healthy so.. i dunno. whatever. it's stolen
i think from the many people ive talked to, ive realized that eating frequently is not a priority for them. so they really need to make eating a habit. that's half their diet right there. the other half is eating fulfilling things. not always stuff that tastes like cardboard but you know...good stuff.
in other news, i was reading paraphrased research and it said something to the effect of how if your normal diet is healthy and frequent but light meals etc your metabolism is probably normal - excellent. BUT every once in a while, like every 2 weeks you should kinad just eat a lot? or a heavier than normal meal? because it shocks your metabolism and makes it even faster because it's kinda like WTF is going on, i need to process this food pronto!
and obviously this is paraphrased research so im doubting that it's completely accurate. but it kinda sounds interesting. it actualy makes sense from an evolutionary perspective. 'early man' was fit..because of the type of food intake etc..all natural stuff but im sure there were days when food was scarce and others when it was plenty.
also this kinda illustrates that our bodies are really good at figuring out what's going on, especially when you set a pattern and then disturb it.
and this is also precisely why your workouts need to be changed every 2-3 weeks if youre doing the same thing everyday...or even every other day. ADAPTATION!

Check out Women's Weight Training for some weightlifting guidance that's tailored for females. Don't listen to the people who say women shouldn't strength train. It's important for your overall health and to stave off osteoporosis. Sure, it's fun to look good, but your health is more important. Good luck!

that's actually an awesome website for beginners..it also has lots of good extra info
and yeah, i just wanna say that it's near impossible to achieve toning that makes you look like a man if you're just working out like very minimally..and people who do get that look work out at least 3-4 hrs a day..i know a lot of these people and there's no way in hell they could've achieved that just working out like people like us. i do think that working out so extremely has led to them losing their feminine look to a degree, but it's not my business..
normal women like us should strenght train if even lightly. because you dont want to turn 40 and gain a ton of weight..and certainly dont want to suffer from osteoporosis later on in life..and so many desi women suffer from that that it's sad. also theres not enough calcium in our diet.
additionally as you age your skin begins to lose elasticity/tightness and strenght training can help avoid/slow down the painful process considerably..google it. i lost a link that supports that..wanted to cite here.
there're just a crazy amount of reasons why you should strenght train if youre a woman. regular exercise makes it likely for pregnancy and labor to be complicated. resting metabolism is much better. losing any weight gained during pregnancy is a like a piece of cake. (hi muscle memory) etc.
so anyway really you wont turn into a man. seriously.

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
and its really never too late to start working out but the younger you start working out, the better..a lot of girls dont give any thought to working out unless they gain weight.

No, man, it's fun seeing how your body can combat and endure pain. His fist used to bounce off when you tense it, it's wicked.
