yes i know there's no such thing as spot reduction

but you can still work on toning one area and that doesnt help women because they all have different 'difficult' areas

the only reason a woman should bike is if she's close to her target goal weight and has plateaued (sp?) and even then it wouldnt be every day for 30 days straight or anything

and white people dont eat daal.

the best weight loss regime for women is variation of movement and work outs that result in full body fatigue

i gotta go now but ill be back later

Sal: I thought you were studying these things and working at a gym or something.
Biking's good as cardio, but obviously you have to switch it up sometimes.

I heart biking.

I'm white, I bike and lose weight from doing it, and I eat daal. I even make it myself. Take that stereotypes

*note to self* get butt off the couch and to the gym tonight. No law and order until you work out.

If you run, get thyself to a running store (a good one, not one of those big box chain places), bring your old shoes and have the staff walk you run. Someone who knows what they're doing should examine your old shoes for wear patterns, watch you run and walk, and observe how you naturally stand. Go later in the day, as your feet will be more swollen. Feet swell as you exercise, so if you buy something that fits just right in the morning, it will be painful after running 10 minutes.

From that, they can recommend what type of shoes you need. I've found that brand isn't really important - it's that the shoe is made for your type of foot. NB probably has some shoes that would work great for you, and a ton that would cause you more pain.

If you're looking to save $$$$, ask if they have any of last year's models on sale. Or, splurge this one time, and then buy them on the internet after they wear out for cheaper.

LOL, that's funny. I like biking for exercise, but I usually do it in the form of a spinning class. Rahma, are you going to train for the half marathon? I am officially registered, so I'm committed!

I heart biking.

im working at a gym, but i still have a long way to go before i graduate with a degree in the field...

anyway when it comes to weight loss really there's a lot of different theories out there..but the ones that makes the most logical sense is strenght train + cardio = long term fat loss and muscle strenght SANS the bulkiness

im really really big on variation of movement for weight loss purposes..and ive seen it work in people so im not just really talking like that. increased heart rate = increased calorie expenditure, but there should DEFINITELY BE a whole variety of muscles being utilized in the process

or else the same muslce being worked out the same way for 20 days in a row will adapt to it and stop burning as many calories

it's as simple as that

also...strenght training however light is HUGE when it comes to weight loss. im a little short on time but you can google random fitness journals or whatever and research after research shows that two separate groups put on two diff programs for weight loss, group A just cardio and group B both cardio and strenght LOST the same amoutn of weight in the end

HOWEVER, part of group As weight loss was lean muscle and group B lost actual fat weight in that place

anyways im not anti biking..i just said that it doesnt do much for people who are extremely obese and looking to lose a lot of weight..yes...if youre gonna eb really basic about this stuff..SOME moving is way better than not moving at all..BUT..different things work for differnt people..and most people who come in here wanna get right to it..theres no time to experiment with different regimes..and so the best thing is to cut to the chase and do full body cardio and strenght work outs..which work for the majority of people, guarenteed..provided they change things up every 3-4 wks.

thats all

also..i hate to say this and i know i just said some moving is better than no moving at all but people who just rely on cardio and diet control for weight loss are digging themselves a hole..they will have short term success but the pounds will creep back on just as soon as they slow down their cardio or start eating normally again *shrug* it's just the truth of how things work.

circuit training is pretty incredible. the most intense work out of my life (which isn't saying much) but it gets your heart pumping and muscles burning.

leave all this strength training bakwas.

some recommendations/principles to remember:

- women should be small and soft. this means you should aim for a high body fat % but a low bmi

- toned females are disgusting

- weights are to be lifted by men

- any exercise you can't do in a salwar kameez is unladylike

- for weight loss, stick to daal & light jogging

- you can't go wrong with red & lots of gold kaam
