actually, what i wanna know is..if you do it for weight loss..how in the world has your body not adapted to biking or started ignoring its weight loss effects yet?

if you do it so much, it wont do anything for you anymore on its own..itd have to be like really intensely modified or whatever

also, the pain that comes with biking is pain..not the GOOD sore feel..which is why its not worth it..also..biking so often isnt good for the parts of the body that are uncomfortable in the beginning...getting used to the PAIN from a certain type of activity is unhealthy.. and by pain i dont mean the good sore

so not worthwhile in my opinion..but diff strokes for diff folks.

edit: it also has like the worst range of motion possible..absolutely NO upperbody work at ALL...no ab workout, to be honest..just lower abs and legs. if i put someone on a program to just bike for weight loss, theyd end up with ONE HELL of a disfigured body

NEW BALANCE. are the best..trust me on that. HOWEVER. you need to be willing to spend at least a $100 on shoes..shoes are your lifeline if youre going to make working out a regular thing..without proper shoes you can really mess yourself and even become discouraged..like people who start running for a hobby who dont have proper shoes..that means they lag and cant build endurance and keep getting hurt and feel random pains...and drop out eventually

so shoes are important. the best thing for you to do would be to find an actual new balance store in your area. if you dont have that lemme know and ill tell you other stuff

I bike 15 miles a day usually. 40 Miles on weekends. Since I ride differently each time (sometimes I take it easy, other times im out of the saddle sprinting hard), different muscles get affected. Plus I take different routes so I have to pedal differently in different terrains. Its only when you lose most of your fat that the weight's really hard to get rid of.

Believe it or not, its pretty easy to vary the workout on bicycles.

In the beginning its the bad torturous pain (Lungs and lactic acid in the legs). Aftarwards when you're used to the feeling, the good kind of pain comes and its the pleasurable sore kind where you feel the fat burning off of you.

On the contrary. My arms hurt like hell initially and now my forearm is all muscle. Sprinting has given my arms a toned look if you know what I mean.

edit: actually armstrongs upper body does look a bit wimpy....hmmm...

i think stretching cold muscles can actually make you more prone to injury

you should warm up at the least for like 3 minutes..just brisk walkign on a treadmill or something.

also, if you stretch when you're really really warm, you can actually increase flexibility and range of motion. it's pretty cool. really challenging, but fun. like if you're doing circuit or interval training (high - low - high heartrate) and in the middle you just do like various stretches and hold them.. you can feeeel yourself becoming invincible

ok not really. but you know what i mean

Well I'm not really stretching cold... I'll jog on the spot for one song (like 2.5 min?) and then do my pushups/situps. Then I'll do my stretches and afterwards begin my heavy lifting.

I didn't know if it was ideal, but I don't think it's damaging me. Like I said, the lower back pain is 99% gone since I started and I have noticed I'm able to reach farther in my stretches now. I used to think it was so useless, but I guess in my old age it's become pretty apparent how important it is.

I don't think biking is that bad. It's low impact and good cardio. I biked last summer everyday to work, by the end I could rocket up hills and I actually had a butt.

well flexibility is always good for you and has no doubt contributed to your feeling better..i was just letting you know to warm up..which is waht you already do. so it's cool.

you can eat cake..just spend an extra sixty minutes on the stair master!!!

jk, dont deprive yourself of foods you like so much...one day youll binge and eat everythign youve been craving in epic proportions..so to avoid that have a bite or two of your favorite foods every so often

i also found a new balance story in kansas..and I KNOW you live on the other side..and you might have to drive (a lot) BUT..trust me..it's completeeeeeeeeeeely worth it

the stories ive been to have treadmills inside..and they let you try out their shoes and walk on em to see how you feel. and they also make you walk without shoes/socks and analyze your feet etc..then recommend a shoe

no they wouldn't.. the fat loss wouldn't be local. they'd just have bigger leg muscles and a more toned lower body, which is usually a good thing (for men).
