Hi, drink organic milk.

No soy milk though. SoyBAD!

Also I work out best from 5pm-8pm...it just always worked out nicely for me.. I think I trained myself into that routine but it def takes time to get used to because well, if you get done at around 8, you can't really sleep until midnight which makes for a sucky combination if you have to be up early

So you can kind of start suffering from self induced insomnia

After a while you just get used to it... But I totally have days when I sleep through the night but wake up feeling the epitome of exhaustion, or like some part of my brain was awake all night.

Only Saturdays I do early morning work-outs.

Bottom line you have to find what works for you

Circuit training is awesome for those who are pressed for time. I do them a lot if i feel like doing a quick workout. They're intense though and you can do them at home. I recently bought a book on gym less training and it's really interesting.

I'd ask Sally too as she used to work in a gym
asalaamu alykum,

my goal: to shrink my waist circumference..drop down a dress size or two..i think i look alright otherwise with exception of my baby face..al hamdoulilah

bro, what's this circuit session you speak of? my biggest problem is, commuting back and forth to the gym. after school, i'd head to work...and from work to the gym..then it takes ~15-20 minutes to change and start working out..40-50 minutes at the gym..then getting back home and showering, changing ..and grabbing a bite or two..dropping by to say salaams and stuff to family(this act in itself takes 30 minutes)...if i were to do this, it'd be almost two-three hours..since i can't study at home. i'd head back to campus and study..and by that it'd be already 11 or so..this routine will kill me. and my schedule. teheheheh.

i haven't had time to work out at all this week. but, ive actually controlled my superlicious diet though. mashaAllah me, right?well..not really.

in the morning, i make sure i dont walk out with an empty stomach. b/c if i do, then i find myself i'd eat ANYTHING during the lunch time. yes, even oil dipped fries from the cafeteria.

my last two day's diet:
Btwn 7:00 to 7:30 am: i try something extremely protein-ish in the morning, and i slap it on my carb stuff occasionally sip it down with some coffee or juice.

and in btwn my classes and work: i snack with the stuff i carry around with me. that's usually 2 apples and some raw veggies, along with two small plain yogurts and some dry fruits/nuts...and try hard to avoid tim horton's blue berry and fruit explosion muffins, french vanilla capiccino and of course, my bottle of water..al hamdoulilah i dont feel hungry or anything at all and keeps me full until 9 or 10 pm

looks great so far, right? *sign* when i come home around 9-10ish, thats when i can't resist my mom's warm meals or the desserts which are sitting and waiting for me in the fridge. and i can't pass by them without "tasting them". that's how my mindless eating starts . by the time, im home. usually everyone has eaten so im usually in the kitchen, while my family is in the living room and i get updates on how their day was..while i sit there in the kitchen enjoying my supper and im also socializing. but i do try to keep an eye on what i'm eating and how much. truth to told, at times, i do lose track of how much was on my plate. lol.

the most ridiculous thing about all this, the nights when i resist the thought of having supper. my parents think that something seriously went wrong that day.and they keep bugging me to until i come and eat...lol..oh boy..

so yes, my main problem. coming back home..ideas?

Only one:

1) Keep a food diary for a week.

2) What are you eating for breakfast exactly? Bfast should be your biggest meal of the day esp if you're not working out..just bettering eating habits

3) You need more than snacks throughout the day. You need one more actual meal after breakfast around mid afternoon.

4) Don't eliminate dinner entirely or aim for that route. Though by dinner time you definitely definitely shouldn't be starving. If you're starving then you need more food before dinner. The intensity of temptation should noticeably decrease as you get in the gradual habit of eating more throughout the day/before dinner..

5) But you have to tell your parents straight up that you can't eat what they want you to etc etc. Tell them you're trying something new.

Walaikum asalaam

You can work out from home. You don't need weights to do circuit training. You basically do sets of exercises in a circuit with not rest.

An example is

10 Burpees
10 Chinnies
10 Squats
10 Pushups

and do that circuit as many times as you cna in 20 minutes without stopping.

DO that for 4 weeks. Also cut out the junk from your diet. Eat 5 small balanced meals a day( Protein Carbs and veg). I tend not to calorie count as i find that too laborious. However i do eat clean ie no junk all natural foods. I make my only beverages Water and Coffee. Treat yourself once a week to a meal that you enjoy

This was my pre ramadhan routine and its the routine i use now.

When it comes to your mums food, treat your self to a small helping but don't go nuts. Enjoy your life but be mindful of what you eat. Simple right?

Exercise is easy we've been doing it for thousands of years. If you want to go to a gym by all means do, but if you're strapped for time then home workouts are easier.

Woo-hoo. This thread is so motivating. I've never been on a diet because I've always hated quick fixes. And I've never worked out with a goal. I just played sports and ran when the weather was nice at the park.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll check out the organic milk and switch up different work out schedules to see what's best (as soon as this freakish week is over).

Diets fail.

You should look to change your lifestyle.
