I hiighly recommend hanging out there if you are in need of inspiration. ALLLLLLLLLLLLL kinds of people work out/run. Old, young, complete beginners, pros, athletes, coaches, people with varying fitness goals, people on South Beach, Weight Watchers, people struggling to run half a mile, people struggling to run 10, etc etc
There's just constant support and feedback available by experienced people. Veryyy refreshing

Are there forums?
I need tips on getting rid of shin splints (still ) and knee strengthening. I did watch the videos they have, but I seriously don't have time to do all of those every day, so I need to find out which to zero in on.

Fun! I went to a weightlifting class today at 7, but I was the only one in the class, so she just did a personal training session with me for an hour. She's pregnant and I told her I was too (even though it's early - wasn't sure if I should do all exercises) and she gave me a ton of good advice. It was fun.
Variable, both of the places sally mentioned have forums - check them out!

I think I am gonna get a workout buddy!

I don't know if that'll work for me. I get bored very easily and I am not going for high intensity or anything (very far from that actually )

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
Basically what he's trying to say is that when you watch TV, you're really involved in what's going on so in most cases it's impossible to exert yourself enough to get your heart rate on the border of fatburn/cardio, which is where you should be aiming for even if you're starting out, and even if its in spurts (if it's in intervals its better).
I read a few studies that measured the effect of watching TV. Most people don't end up working very hard. On the other hand, studies show that music with fast beats increases the intensity of ones work-out. That's kind of obvious though.
But yeah with TV it's just that it's very easy to get sidetracked.

Music is a good aid..its been proven that the type of music you listen to really helps or hinders your workout.
Thanks for putting what i wanted to say better than i ever could..

You'll be over training at this rate sally. Calm down and focus on your Marathon.
I was reading about the food we eat in the book i bought online..needless to say that i'll be eating an Organic diet ASAP.

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
The top of my left foot hurts.
Lame.
I'm not really overtraining. But UGH I feel crappy for complaining 24/7
Anyways alhamdulillah I really haven't lost AS much strength as I feared which is obviously a good thing.
Today I'm going to interval kickboxing. Lower body weights though first.
Not really feeling sore..sup with that..I guess I'll give it a week to kick in.
I love this thread and working out And you all rock
