Re: Health and Fitness Thread
PhDGirl, what training plan are you using? I was working on the Hal Higdon's Novice program, but alas, I suck and I stopped running. Now I have to work my way up from the beginning all over I was planning on a spring half, but now I think I'll have to push it back to fall.

I'm using the Runner's World novice plan, which looks similar. I'm also planning on a spring half - you can do it! I'm starting from pretty much the beginning too. I figured having a goal would force/help me be consistent.

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
My body finally retaliated for the over-whelming physical activity I did this past month. I'm resting now. Only walking, no running for a week But I'm not giving up basketball, football or that soccer tournament this weekend

Well, you have to keep doing some sort of physical activity because your body will crash if you do a mad amount of physical activity, and then you rest for awhile. Like I played basketball the other week for the first time in months, and I was sore for a day or two and I layed off physical activity for awhile. And then when I started physical activity again, it really hurt and was struggling.
Kind of hard to explain, but you know?

Well, a treated cold lasts for a week, and an untreated cold lasts for 7 days. *shurgs*

It isn't that hard to explain. It's called being out of shape.

as far as the vitamin C...its usually pretty high doses of it that they say are effective. so i guess you could get it from orange juice...but thats a lot of juice (and lots of sugar/calories too). so i guess youre better off with a supplement. im not sure about canada, but here you can buy products like cold-eez cough drops and airborne...those have everything all together so you dont have to get them seperately.

'Nother question, since I'm not taking the tetracycline anymore.
Minocin (minocycline) and calcium/Vitamin D supplements? Do they interact?
I totally forgot to ask the pharmacist today when I went to get the stuff, so I figured I'd just ask you. I'm thinking it's the same thing... that they don't exactly interact, but it's better for absorbtion to take them separately. No iron supplements, multivitamins, calcium, etc within 2 hours of taking the myocin, right? I figure this because it's still in the tetracycline class of antibiotics, so it's close enough to what I was taking before.

yup, youre right. same issue, metal ions complexing in the stomach and preventing absorption. make sure you space these out too

Alright, I'm going to do a workout right now. Pushups, biceps, legs... and I'm not going to forget to stretch this time.
(I HATE stretching)

I find that getting stressed (if ur the type that gets stomach contractions when u get stressed) makes for a no work out life alhmdulilah, see everything has it's benefits, including figuring out how much ur phone bill is going to be.

I just use pay as you go
So has anyone here tried walking down stairs immediately after calf raises? It kind of feels like just after you get off of a trampoline.
(and I still forgot to stretch, I'll do it in a minute)

Hahaha, yeh I don't envy girls in their heels. The closest thing I've got is snowboarding...on some mountains its like standing on your toes for 6 hours. Actually it's not like that, it is that...

Re: Health and Fitness Thread
Work out time... pushups, triceps, shoulders, back. And always core. And stretching. Ugh.
