Sometimes men take seconds for other reasons.
I was at a small party at my cousin's house once and his wife says to me and some other guys "Hey guys, come on!! have some more! help yourselves, please!" so I laughed and asked her if she just wanted to feel good about her cooking when she sees that people are taking second and third helpings.
She fires right back and says: "Oh no I just didn't want the fridge to be full of leftovers."
So basically in the view of some women, men are walking, talking food disposal machines.

Re: How much do you spend on groceries a week?
Spice: Anyway, my family spends from $550-650 a week on groceries, and when we're hosting a dinner, then it sky rockets. But we are a large family and made up of mostly men, so I'd think its understandable.
Itz: I think my family spends a similar amount.. I have a bunch of brothers and they eat constantly
I don't know. There are more men than women in my family but we ALL eat. Like, my parents are constantly praised by others about how well we all eat, and how much we all eat, yet none of us have a weight issue. So we all certainly eat but my mother never spent nearly that much on food a week. I think at most it was 200, and she was complaining up a storm with that.
So what are you guys buying??

I recently switched from 2% to 1% milk. feels a bit healthier and less-fattier.

my mom is extremely particular about food so we spend a lot on fresh produce and a LOT on dairy... we go through maybe a gallon and a half of milk a day. we also go through a couple dozen eggs a week because we bake often and then we spend maybe 50 bucks a week on spring water.
and my mom really spoils my brothers; some of them are pretty finicky about food and she'll cater to their individual demands (she didn't do that when I was a kid)
Edit: I was wayy off.. I asked my mom and she said $300

Hey Itznotme... don't you have places you can go and get those big water cooler things? My sister pays 26 bucks a month or something, and gets unlimited refills.

Yeah. WAY off.
Why pay for water when you can have a water filter?
My parents installed one of these years ago into our kitchen sink:

Re: How much do you spend on groceries a week?
Or, you could just move up to Canada.
The regular water from the kitchen tap is so cold and pure its literally the same as drinking filtered, spring bottled water down in the States.

'cus they put fluoride in our tap water and filters generally don't remove that.. so it's not particularly healthful to drink

No amount of filters can filter NJ/NY metro area water.
