erm england isn't that high jamroll? where r u shopping?
or r u one of those ppl who just do the waitrose and marks and sparks and everything has to be organic.

i spend about 30ish for 1-2 ppl but then i have to admit i keep money each week to do the true asian thing of buying a few things on offer in bulk... not LOADs but sufficient so i don't spend double the next month buying the same thin...

what is a quid?
sounds like you guys barter with squid body parts.

or is it just another word for pound?

i know we spend a lot on food. cuz my parents eat tons of fruit.
cuz of price levels going up, my mom said she wants to switch from sliced bread to pita bread only.
i would like to cut down on meat.

Slang for pound, like "buck" or "bone" or "greenback" or "bee" for a dollar.

Well, yeah I guess I am. I do like organic food better. But it is much more expensive. I think that's the thing really. I don't budget in any way. I just go and pick whatever I want from the shelves and then go to the checkout. I don't really have a connect between what I'm picking up and buying, and the money in my account. This is what I've tried to do by this exercise.

If you tried to make that happen in my house there would be mass rioting, chaos, and a total breakdown of even basic social order.

It would make the Paris riots of 2005 look like a nice summer picnic barbecue.

Hmm, I don't really know. I spent $70 yesterday, but that doesn't include meat, my regular Costco runs etc. We probably spend more than most people because I use organic dairy products and we eat a lot of fresh produce.

See, for me, eating fresh produce saves money.

Fresh fruit and veg, and fresh meat is way more expensive than processed and frozen or tinned foods.

nice...ive been trying to get everyone to start off using organic dairy products/sugar/flour but it hasnt become an absolute habit yet because my parents still kind of forget sometimes whilst grocery shopping that we're trying to switch over. anyway and then ill try to steer clear of non organic so some days my mom will be like, did you see the fridge? i got organic milk! and im like awwww. even though i drink soy milk

Around here, we can go to a Farmer's Market, spend about half and get fresh produce. Buying it directly from the people who grow it saves money and gets you better quality food.

Hmm, very interesting. So Farmer's Markets are cheaper than the supermarkets? I did not know that. I will have to investigate where my nearest Farmers Market is.

They are charging 79 cent per cucumber here. PER A FREAKIN CUCUMBER!!

What the hell happened to two, occasionally three, for a dolla?

These particular ones are cheaper, since you aren't paying for supermarket markup. And the quality is outstanding. The guy we buy our corn from sold out, 30 bushels in 2 hours. I hope word doesn't get out too much or he's going to jack up his price. Not that it isn't worth it.
