Hmm, I employ a different strategy. I start with the mustache, trimming that at #0 and using a razor to get rid of the hair immediately below the nostrils. Then, I trim the whole thing on #3. Lastly, I go back and fix the non-beard areas with a razor. I also prefer not to use shaving cream ... for some reason. Perhaps I should consider your approach. I might make fewer mistakes.

If you want your skin to weather faster than normal then continue. If you want to keep your skin healthy then use shaving cream.

I used axe deodorant. It works better than anything else. Plus random chicks jump me all the time.

Trimmers are the best way to go.......I can't give you any real advice because my beard is a sad collection of stubble. I mean seriously.....after a month or so of growth I have little more than a 5 o'clock shadow to show for it. Sad.
