Re: Mens Personal Hygiene
Okay.
The shaving cream from Body Shop is actually very good. Its expensive - nearly four times the price of others, but its extremely awesome. try it out.
I do also use a hair brush to lather the cream and also to get the hairs standing up so that if I am going against the grain, its cleaner and smoother on the first pass.
I was just trying to point out that in my current experience, Mach3 blades are just way smoother than the BICs - everything else being the same.

I haev the exact same thing...I've bought two of them...does a very a good job with trimming and detailing...and for shaving, I tend to use the sensor excel with 3 blades...forgot what you call it...does a pretty good job, but I just recently bought the new electric powered Gilette razor with 5 blades...we'll see how that goes

I find the opposite but whatever works for you bro. Teh Body Shop cream is good from what i've heard but you can get better alternatives for half the price.

Re: Mens Personal Hygiene
I prefer to use the Mach 3, but I've got the one that has the vibrating tip or whatever so it feels just like an electric razor. That, plus some special shaving gel that is great for sensitive skin and I don't even have to worry about the rash or anything. I do shave all in the shower, though, so I'm sure that helps quite a bit.

Re: Mens Personal Hygiene
i never had the need to completely shave. my career doesn't require it nor would i want to look 12 again. i just trim because it gets really uncomfortable if its more than a quarter inch so i keep it pretty low.

Everything you listed is considered the worst thing you can do whilst shaving, you must have great skin to resist the beating you give it.
Some people have good genes and their skin can take Mach 3s and goop in a can, i have really sensitive skin, so i have to be careful.

honestly...I would think using a mach 3 while in the shower and being considerate enough to use a sensitive skin shaving gel is MORE than enough for the average skin type...I have pretty sensitive skin and use pretty much this exact regimen...and although I'm sure I can have a better shave, I wouldn't quite consider it the worst thing I can do to my skin

Dermatologists would disagree.
The canned gel is full of artificial additives and added moisturisers because the pressuirsation dries the gel out. Using 3-5 blades on your skin is pretty harsh too. What Gillette fail to tell peopel is that each blade doesn't cut the hair, the first blade pulls the hair the second cuts and so on.
Also 75% of people who say they have sensitive skin actually don't, they just need to look after their skin better. I thought I had sensitive skin, turns out i don't. i used a Mach 3 and gel for years with irritation and and cuts. NOw I use $2 shaving soap and a BIC disposable and i've never had a better shave.
Its down to the person though. Each person is different but the amount of products on the market now to combat shaving rash and razor bumps is crazy, it shows there a deficiancy somewhere and i reckon that its with the companies themselves. They market crap products to a generation that really don't know any better.

Re: Mens Personal Hygiene
interesting...well it must be the soap because I've used those disposables and they are absolutely horrible
in other news, I tried the new gilette battery powered 5 bladed razor and it sucked...my gilette sensor excel (i think?) with 3 blades is much better and I rarely get cuts/burns with it

Its the quality of lather and shaving technique. Sensor excels are better than Quattros or Fusions. I 99% never get cuts nor burns with a single bladed disposable. Also a light touch go's a long way.
I'm actually thinking of investing in a old school safety razor.
