No his hair isn't black anyway, it's dark brown, why wouldn't it be allowed?

You can get white hairs at any age, depends on genes, my dad's hair was grey by 24 (and uh, he didn't marry until 29)... women too, it's really genetic..

Apparently hair dye 'coats' the hair preventing it from becoming clean while making wudu. I believe thats the reasoning behind that particular opinion.

I've never heard that opinion.. where did you hear it? And dye doesn't coat hair (well, some do, but those are the semipermanent ones), it actually goes inside the hair shaft. And doesn't wudu require that you wipe your head?, not your hair?
And why would it be different for women? And there are instances when it is permissible for men to dye their hair black (in war really) and henna is a beautification, what about wudu then? This is a bit perplexing...

It was something I heard in passing. Apparently I was out to lunch because I just did a quick google and came up with a Q&A which says that it doesn't invalidate wudu.

Haha ok, a lot of women would freak out if hair dye invalidated wudu

Unless I'm horribly mistaken, I thought nabeyuna Muhammad forbade men to dye their hair black if it was previously black and had now turned gray or white. They were allowed to dye it other colors such as dark reddish / brown with henna, of course.

no, you're right, but his hair isn't black, it's dark brown and he just dyed it dark brown. I know in the pictures his looks black though...

Re: Getting Old.... So Old.
Salika: Haha I did that once (counted white hairs) and the next time he came and saw me told me to count them but I couldn't find any! He surprised me by dying his hair
Lol awwww! Mine colored his hair once, but I like how he has a couple grays. I can't wait for him to get the salt n pepper look. I think it's sexy [yes I know, I really do have a thing for old guys].

Not to get into a Hadith battle, because we all know it's pointless to get into one with me, but I always understood that one to mean older men, who are visually old looking, dying their hair black. It looks stupid. Even on old ladies it looks stupid. It's such a fierce dark color, it looks unbelievably unnatural against a wrinkly aged face. But if the guy is still young, then what's the problem?

Dark brown? Really? It does look black but I understand what you mean in photos etc. Mine has the blackest of black, which I hope our kids will inherit.

I don't blame you, at a certain age, the salt and pepper look is kinda cool

The Prophet (peace be upon him) always made a point for the Muslims to be different. Jews dye their hair black and so that is basically why... this is not meant to be anti-Jewish, it's just a matter of sticking out. He would do simple things to differentiate between the Quraysh as well... the exception is in time of war (in the shafi' school at least) . This is to give the enemy the impression that all those who are fighting are young.

Ya, plus he uses a gel sometimes which I think gives it a darker look too. He told me used a dark brown dye at least and it blended in perfectly.

Re: Getting Old.... So Old.
my husband (he's turning 29 next month, iA) has gray hair sprinkled in his sideburns and some at the sides/back of his hairline, but I think it looks cool. I wouldn't want him dye it. gray hair looks awesome.
