yeah in my family we still do it, even after living north america for so long. Kashmiries are very family orientated people.

that's how memons eat as well, with the hand washing and everything. that dish they're washing their hands in is called a "chilamchi."
i used to like saffron pilau when i was a kid, but stopped liking it as i got older.. too sweet

saffron pilau is most certainly a memon thing. eating in circles of four with your hands from the same metal plate is very much a memon tradition - one that's alive and well, alhamdulillah.

are you sure man? because saffron the ingredient i believe is only found in kashmir, i am not saying other people dont use it but are you sure that is a memon dish? maybe you guys have a different one but i doubt its similar to the kashmiri one. also you guys eat a lot of spice, we kashmiris dont eat spicy food at all

ok, maybe i know what you're talking about but i dont think ive ever heard of it referred to as saffron pilau
is it yellow rice? that's sweet?
people eat together in karachi memon functions but very rarely..never at weddings and stuff..karachi memons are mostly stuck up.
