Ah I see. In the UK you can't smoke in any indoor public areas.

Yeah I noticed that when I visited Cali a few years back. Actually you guys had the ban many years before we ever did. I think it's a good thing.
I do feel sorry for the smokers though when I see them all huddled up in corners puffing away, especially when it's cold, rainy and windy (which it is a lot in the UK)

It is, but if people smoke enough, it permiates their clothes, and then soaks into the upholstry in the elevator and stinks everything up.

lots and lots of things do that. When I used to do inorganic synthesis, I would come home smelling like chemicals. My hair, clothes, even my breath would smell like organic solvent and other things. |
