I've never smoked ciggs for that purpose. they'd never work... this was the first time they did, and i was just surprized. i'm never going to be addicted i'A.
Well some of my hardcore religious guys are big time addicts. It's kind of funny to see em lead prayer/give bayan one minute, and the next, they're out there having a smoke.
Some of my religious buddies go for a smoke after prayers and i just tag along w/ em ....not a big deal.

In your eyes or Allah's?
p.s. can you stop being judgmental plz? Its certainly not befitting a muslimah..
Occasionally smoking is certainly not one of the major or even a minor sin.
I go to Gym every other day and run at least 5 miles in addition to workout session.
My dad's a chain smoker and the rest of my uncles and people i lived with and trust me, i've despised it all my life and there's no way im going to be addicted to this petty habit i'A. Almost every morning i've woken up to the smell of second hand ciggs, and trust me, its no fun.

So what if religious guys smoke? What's your point? How does that make it more acceptable? Or ok in the sharia? (even if you follow the makrooh opinion, it's still blameworthy). Or healthier?
Anyways, good luck with that.....

Re: The Official Smoking Thread
Shah: p.s. can you stop being judgmental plz? Its certainly not befitting a muslimah..
I love you, and this isn't necessarily directed towards you alone, but what the hell is up with people complaining about others being 'judgmental'?? Get over it. People are constantly, whether intentionally or unintentionally, judging others but love to complain when they are openly judged and they don't like what they hear. It's always when they are doing something wrong do they have a problem with people 'judging' them. Now if the people are judging them by complimenting them, then they are just a bundle of joy but other than that, they want to lecture on the harms of judging. Please.
Look at me, I'm about to judge you and this is directed to you: I care about you too freakin' much to sit here and sugarcoat or lie to you. You are too freakin' sweet, too freakin' cute, too freakin' smart, to freakin' caring, to waste your precious and valuable life and body on some freakin' loser addiction like smoking. You want to die of some disease that was TOTALLY preventable? Huh?? I don't care if you smoke on occasion, because that doesn't make a piss worth of difference when it comes to harming your body. What the hell is wrong with you? To freak with all those who smoke, grow a set of freakin' balls and be your own man. If you continue to smoke, I will freakin' kick your freakin' ass when I come and see you. And you do NOT want your freakin' ass kicked by an angry midget black american woman! So stop being a freakin' attention wh0r3 and focus on your schooling and other aspects of your life so you can live out this Blessed life God has given you and you can make me some nieces and nephews damnit. Do I make myself freakin' clear?

Re: The Official Smoking Thread
This sounds too much like a joke. To make a thread: "Hello Islamica, I'm going to make an informed, adult decision to start smoking..." It sounds like one of Kona's prank threads.

Re: The Official Smoking Thread
I started smoking when I was 13 (looked old enough to buy them myself).
by senior year of high school I was smoking 20 cigs a day. I was hopelessly hooked.
Im trying SUPER hard to quit, Ive cut down to one a day, usually at night before I go to sleep. I dont even really enjoy it anymore.

Dude, you're in denial. Cigarettes are an extremely addicitve substance. Anyone who has ever smoked knows that by the third or fourth cigarette, it gets into your system. Your body begins craving it.
Make intention to quit, inshallah. You'll be in a much better position.

Re: The Official Smoking Thread
Just to make it clear...
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States.
Lung cancer causes 30% of all cancer deaths.
Lung cancer is the leading cancer killer among Caucasians, African-Americans, Asians and Hispanic males.
Lung cancer will kill more people this year than:
breast cancer
prostate cancer
colon cancer
liver cancer
kidney cancer
melanoma...combined
Lung cancer will kill three times as many men as prostate cancer this year.
Lung cancer will kill nearly twice as many women as breast cancer this year.
Over 50% of new lung cancer cases will be diagnosed at a very late stage—Stage IIIb or IV— and only 5% of them will live for 5 years.
Myth: After you stop smoking, your lungs go back to normal in 10 years.
Truth: The lungs never go back to normal. Most former smokers remain at elevated risk.
Current smokers: 35-40% of new lung cancer cases
Former smokers: 50% of new lung cancer cases
Never smoked: 10-15% of new lung cancer cases
